Improving the Intra Class Distance using RBSQI Technique for Facial Images with Illumination Variations

چکیده
The changes induced by illumination variation are larger than the differences between individuals. This difference escalates the misclassification rate and thus aggravates the performance. So to improve the performance, illumination normalization/compensation becomes an essential preprocessing step. In this paper we propose a method Region Based Self Quotient Image (RBSQI) for illumination compensation. Our method is basically based on SQI filter. The proposed method aims to improve the intra class distance for faces of an individual taken under different illumination condition. This improvement will enhance the recognition rate. Experimental results on the extended version of YaleB database demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in terms of minimizing the intra class distance and processing time. HCFD-based Facial Recognition System for User Identification
Facial recognition systems have their accuracy based on the intra-class variations between two stages in particular, enrollment and identification. These intra-class variations are affected by the lighting conditions with other reasons such as, facial expressions, pose, occlusion, poor sensor quality, and illumination quality. To identify a face or an object with accuracy, all such errors need ...

A novel feature selection strategy to improve the recognition accuracy on the faces that are affected due to nonuniform illumination, partial occlusions and varying expressions is proposed in this paper. This technique is applicable especially in scenarios where the possibility of obtaining a reliable intra-class probability distribution is minimal due to fewer numbers of training samples. Phas...
متن کاملIllumination and Person-Insensitive Head Pose Estimation Using Distance Metric Learning
Head pose estimation is an important task for many face analysis applications, such as face recognition systems and human computer interactions. In this paper we aim to address the pose estimation problem under some challenging conditions, e.g., from a single image, large pose variation, and un-even illumination conditions. The approach we developed combines non-linear dimension reduction techn...
متن کاملFace Recognition with One . . .
There are two main approaches for face recognition with variations in lighting conditions. One is to represent images with features that are insensitive to illumination in the first place. The other main approach is to construct a linear subspace for every class under the different lighting conditions. Both of these techniques are successfully applied to some extent in face recognition, but it ...
متن کاملAn Illumination Invariant Accurate Face Recognition with Down Scaling of DCT Coefficients
In this paper, a novel approach for illumination normalization under varying lighting conditions is presented. Our approach utilizes the fact that discrete cosine transform (DCT) low-frequency coefficients correspond to illumination variations in a digital image. Under varying illuminations, the images captured may have low contrast; initially we apply histogram equalization on these for contra...
