چکیده

Missed hollow viscus injuries increase the mortality rate in trauma patients specifically in polytraumatized patients. A 18 years old young male patient suffered a high velocity (ca.50 km/h, 31mi/h) car crash with deployment of the airbags. The hemodynamically stable patient did not suffer any intracranial injuries but complained about severe pain in the lower abdomen. The primary survey was misleading. CT demonstrated minimal accumulation of free intraabdominal fluid. Due to persistently severe pain, the patient was taken to the operating room for diagnostic laparoscopy followed by exploratory laparotomy. Jejunal perforation was detected and was surgically treated. In conclusion, following blunt abdominal trauma, operative management is even recommended in patients who present with significant abdominal pain but minimal or absence of pathological findings in abdominal CT-scan imaging. Isolated Jejunal Perforation Following Blunt Abdominal Trauma- Diagnostic Dilemma

Small bowel injuries are the third most common injuries in BAT, occur in less than 1% of the BAT patients. [1,2] . A rare cause of ileus: late jejunal stricture following blunt abdominal trauma.

Small intestinal stricture forming in the late phase following nonpenetrating abdominal trauma is rare cause of ileus. It has often been suggested that it is result of localized feeding deficiency on the intestinal wall related to minor trauma in the mesentery. Laparoscopy has been increasingly used for diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis should be supported by pathological analyses in case of i...

Isolated Duodenal Injuries After Blunt Abdominal Trauma.

Isolated duodenal injury after blunt abdominal trauma is a very rare entity. In contrast to penetrating injuries, duodenal injuries after blunt trauma are difficult to diagnose. Early diagnosis and management is required to prevent high morbidity and mortality associated with these injuries. We present three young patients of blunt abdominal trauma with an isolated injury to duodenum in which p...

Delayed diagnosis of isolated jejunal perforation following blunt abdominal trauma

Isolated jejunal perforation due to blunt abdominal trauma is a rare clinical condition and it may be easily unnoticed during the first examination or radiological studies, so that a delay in diagnosis is common.
