چکیده

Intracranial lipomas (iLp) are very rare congenital malformative lesions, being less than 0.1% of intracranial tumors [1]. They originate from abnormal differentiation of the mesenchimal tissue of meninx primitiva [2–4]. Intracranial lipomas mainly localize in the pericallosal zone, where they are mostly asymptomatic, being frequently associated to other defects of differentiation of the midline. Symptomatic iLp are very rare, headache is the most common symptom [5].

The purpose of this work is to present proceeding in case of central nervous system lipomas with particular attention to diagnostic...

Multiple pericallosal lipomas in two siblings with frontonasal dysplasia.

We report cases of two siblings with frontonasal dysplasia (FND) associated with multiple pericallosal lipomas in almost similar locations. In each sibling two separate curvilinear pericallosal lipomas were present-one in relation to the posterior part of the corpus callosum and the other in relation to the rostrum. To our knowledge, multiple pericallosal lipomas in association with FND have no...

Pericallosal Lipomas: A Series of 10 Cases with Clinical and Radiological Features.

AIM A pericallosal lipoma is a fat-containing lesion occurring in the interhemispheric fissure closely related to the corpus callosum, which is often abnormal. This is the most common location for an intracranial lipoma. In this study, we aim to report on the clinical and radiographic aspects of ten patients diagnosed with pericallosal lipomas. MATERIAL AND METHODS A retrospective analysis of...

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Vermian Lipoma

Dear Editor, A 32-year-old man presented with a history of intermittent headaches. On examination, visual acuity was normal and no neurological deficit was seen. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scan was performed for further evaluation and revealed a well-defined, curvilinear T1 and T2 hyperintense lesion (measuring 1.2×0.4 cm) in the superior half of the cerebellar vermis. It appeared h...

MR imaging of choroid plexus lipomas.

Pericallosal lipomas, also known as lipomas of the corpus callosum, are well described in the radiologic literature. Formerly thought to be rare congenital tumors, they have been identified with more frequency since the advent of CT and MR imaging. Pericallosal lipomas are the most common type of intracranial lipoma (1-4]. With lesser frequency, subarachnoid lipomas are noted in other locations...
