Wideband Printed Antenna Elements for Through- Wall Microwave Imaging Applications

In this paper, the probefed stacked patch antenna and the E-shaped patch with a parasitically coupled selfcomplementary element (ESCE) are designed and analyzed in wall proximity in order to study the effects of various wall parameters on the antenna’s radiation characteristics. In particular, the effect of different wall-antenna separations as well as different wall material properties on impedance bandwidth and through-the-wall gain of the antennas is investigated in detail.
