Multilevel Surgery in Adults Gait-Analysis Gives Not the Full Picture

چکیده
Introduction Multilevel surgery is an established treatment in children with gait disorders due to spastic cerebral palsy [1, 2]. The short and mid-term benefits of well planned and executed procedures are documented. However, we do not know how these patients function as adults. Furthermore there is almost no information on this sort of treatment in adults with cerebral palsy [3]. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether multilevel surgery produced similar results, as it does in children and whether there are other factors that influence the surgical treatment.

Walking abilities of young adults with cerebral palsy: changes after multilevel surgery and adolescence.
Although there is some evidence to support the efficacy of single event multilevel surgery (SEMLS) in the short term for improving walking abilities in children with cerebral palsy (CP), long term effects are not known. It is hypothesized: (1) SEMLS improves walking abilities; (2) in young adulthood abilities deteriorate beyond pre-operative status; (3) walking abilities deteriorate from adoles...

Objectives: This study aimed to compare elderly fallers and non fallers by balance test under dual tasks conditions. Methods & Materials: This study was a analyse-comparative study. Subjects were chosen from three parks of Tehran. Subjects were 20 older adults with no history of falls (aged 72.60±5 years) and 21 older adults with a history of 2 or more falls in the last one year (aged 74.50±...
متن کاملKnee Kinematic Improvement After Total Knee Replacement Using a Simplified Quantitative Gait Analysis Method
Objectives: The aim of this study was to extract suitable spatiotemporal and kinematic parameters to determine how Total Knee Replacement (TKR) alters patients’ knee kinematics during gait, using a rapid and simplified quantitative two-dimensional gait analysis procedure. Methods: Two-dimensional kinematic gait pattern of 10 participants were collected before and after the TKR surgery,...
متن کاملThe Comparison of Gait Kinematics in Over-Weight and Normal-Weight People across Age Groups
Objective Obesity and overweight have changed to very important factors in people movements in the modern world. Therefore, the present study was carried out to examine the effects of overweight on gait kinematic factors in children, young adults, middle-aged, and older adults. Methods The present study was a causal-comparative study in which 40 participants aged 9-85 were selected based on pu...
متن کاملMultilevel orthopaedic surgery in group IV spastic hemiplegia.
Most children with spastic hemiplegia have high levels of function and independence but fixed deformities and gait abnormalities are common. The classification proposed by Winters et al is widely used to interpret hemiplegic gait patterns and plan intervention. However, this classification is based on sagittal kinematics and fails to consider important abnormalities in the transverse plane. Usi...
