On Truth-Table Reducibility to SAT

چکیده
We show that polynomial time truth-table reducibility via Boolean circuits to SAT is the same as logspace truth-table reducibility via Boolean formulas to SAT and the same as logspace Turing reducibility to SAT. In addition, we prove that a constant number of rounds of parallel queries to SAT is equivalent to one round of parallel queries. We give an oracle relative to which ∆p2 is not equal to the class of predicates polynomial time truth-table reducible to SAT.

On truth-table reducibility to SAT and the difference hierarchy over NP
We show that polynomial time truth-table reducibility via Boolean circuits to SAT is the same as log space truth-table reducibility via Boolean formulas to SAT and the same as log space Turing reducibility to SAT. In addition, we prove that a constant number of rounds of parallel queries to SAT is equivalent to one round of parallel queries. Finally, we show that the infinite difference hierarc...
متن کاملSchnorr trivial sets and truth-table reducibility
We give several characterizations of Schnorr trivial sets, including a new lowness notion for Schnorr triviality based on truth-table reducibility. These characterizations allow us to see not only that some natural classes of sets, including maximal sets, are composed entirely of Schnorr trivials, but also that the Schnorr trivial sets form an ideal in the truth-table degrees but not the weak t...
متن کاملA Computational Complexity-Theoretic Elaboration of Weak Truth-Table Reducibility
The notion of weak truth-table reducibility plays an important role in recursion theory. In this paper, we introduce an elaboration of this notion, where a computable bound on the use function is explicitly specified. This elaboration enables us to deal with the notion of asymptotic behavior in a manner like in computational complexity theory, while staying in computability theory. We apply the...
متن کاملComplexity-Restricted Advice Functions
We consider uniform subclasses of the nonuniform complexity classes de ned by Karp and Lipton via the notion of advice functions These subclasses are obtained by restricting the complexity of computing correct advice We also investigate the e ect of allowing advice functions of limited complexity to depend on the input rather than on the input s length Among other results using the notions desc...
متن کاملRelating Equivalence and Reducibility to Sparse Sets
For various polynomial-time reducibilities r, this paper asks whether being r-reducible to a sparse set is a broader notion than being r-equivalent to a sparse set. Although distinguishing equivalence and reducibility to sparse sets, for many-one or 1-truth-table reductions, would imply that P 6= NP, this paper shows that for k-truth-table reductions, k 2, equivalence and reducibility to sparse...
