چکیده

A low-phase-noise voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) has been demonstrated using a harmonically tuned LC resonance tank. In this circuit configuration, the voltage shape at the differential cell is almost rectangular; thus, the cell is switched effectively and the phase noise is reduced. More importantly, the proposed tank suppresses downconversion of the noise around 2f0 to the phase noise, due to the 2 nd harmonic short of the tank. Therefore, the phase noise of the VCO based on the tank is improved considerably. The VCO for 1-GHz operation has been realized using a 0.35m CMOS process. It shows a phase noise of 111.6 dBc/Hz at 100 KHz offset, which is a 5.7-dB improvement over a comparable standard VCO. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A CMOS LC-tank VCO and phase shifting network for direct conversion receiver of IEEE 802.11a

A CMOS LC-tank VCO and phase-shifting network are described for a direct-conversion receiver of IEEE 802.11a. The direct-conversion receiver is configured to have sub-harmonic mixing structure which requires multi-phase local oscillator (LO) signals spaced by 45°. A poly-phase filter with 3and 4-stage RC networks generates multi-phase LO signals whose amplitude imbalance is removed by cascaded ...

Dual Band CMOS Quadrature VCO using Reconfigurable LC Tank and Coupled Transistors

To qualify the condition of a multi standard and a multi band transceiver, a quadrature voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), which has a wide and proper tuning range, is necessary, while providing high phase noise performance and consuming low current. In this paper, a dual band quadrature VCO in 0.18 μm CMOS process is proposed. To attain the dual band operation, a reconfigureurable LC tank is...
