Generalized Contextual Groups

چکیده
There is a neo-Riemannian-type group, the generalized contextual group, that can be constructed for the set of transpositions and inversions of any pitch-class segment, provided the segment contains at least two distinct pitch classes which span an interval other than a tritone. The generalized contextual group is dual to the T/I group for any pitch-class segment satisfying the condition above. This article shows how one can construct a generalized contextual group with symmetrical as well as asymmetrical pitchclass segments (previous work in this area has required asymmetry as a precondition to the construction of neo-Riemannian-type groups). The group is “generalized” in that there is a generalized contextual group for any Zm, so Z12 is just one subtype. We apply a mod 12 generalized contextual group (and its dual relation) in a network analysis of Hindemith, Ludus Tonalis, Fugue in E. We close with an application of a mod 3 generalized contextual group in an analysis of a chorale's chord voicings. Submission received April 2005 GENERALIZED CONTEXTUAL GROUPS THOMAS M. Contextual generalized trust and immunization against the 2009 A(H1N1) pandemic in the American states: A multilevel approach
The aim of the study was to investigate the association between contextual generalized trust and individual-level 2009 A(H1N1) pandemic immunization acceptance. A second aim was to investigate whether knowledge about the A(H1N1) pandemic mediated the association between contextual generalized trust and A(H1N1) immunization acceptance. Data from the National 2009 H1N1 Flu Survey was used. To cap...
متن کاملGeneralized Robustness of Contextuality
Motivated by the importance of contextuality and a work on the robustness of the entanglement of mixed quantum states, the robustness of contextuality (RoC) RC(e) of an empirical model e against non-contextual noises was introduced and discussed in Science China Physics, Mechanics and Astronomy (59(4) and 59(9), 2016). Because noises are not always non-contextual, this paper introduces and disc...
متن کاملGeometric contextuality from the Maclachlan-Martin Kleinian groups
There are contextual sets of multiple qubits whose commutation is parametrized thanks to the coset geometry G of a subgroup H of the two-generator free group G = 〈x, y〉. One defines geometric contextuality from the discrepancy between the commutativity of cosets on G and that of quantum observables. It is shown in this paper that Kleinian subgroups K = 〈f, g〉 that are non-compact, arithmetic, a...
متن کاملSocial Salience Discriminates Learnability of Contextual Cues in an Artificial Language
We investigate the learning of contextual meaning by adults in an artificial language. Contextual meaning here refers to the non-denotative contextual information that speakers attach to a linguistic construction. Through a series of short games, played online, we test how well adults can learn different contextual meanings for a word-formation pattern in an artificial language. We look at whet...
متن کاملThe Effect of Contextual Interference on Acquisition and Learning Badminton Skills among Children aged from 10 to 12
Age may limit the effect of contextual interference, but the accurate effect of age on contextual interference is not completely identified. Therefore, the purpose of the study was the effect of contextual interference practice orders on acquisition and learning of badminton skills of 45 female students aged from 10 to 12. Participants were randomly assigned to one of the three groups of bloc...
