Modelling the creep anisotropy of nickel-base superalloys with a composite model

چکیده

The creep anisotropy of nickel-base superalloys with a cubic y' morphology is studied with a composite model. Creep curves and the internal stress distribution in the microstructure under [Oll] load are calculated with a Finite Element Procedure. Analytical considerations are made for arbitrary loading directions. y' cubes (with their interfaces aligned parallel to (001) planes) under [OOl] load have a significant larger creep strength than under [O 111 or [ I l l ] load. Under [Ol 11 load the matrix deformation is mainly concentrated in the roof matrix channels.

INFLUENCE OF Al-Si LAYER TO STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES ON INCONEL 713LC AND 738LC

This paper is focused on microstructure of protective layers created by co-deposition of Al and Si on nickel base superalloys INCO 713 LC and INCO 738 LC after thermal and thermal-stress exposition and on microstructure of basic materials (substrates). The contribution also shows creep tests results for both superalloys with and without a protective layer.

Design of a creep resistant nickel base superalloy for power plant applications. Part 2 - Phase diagram and segregation simulation

Models have been developed and used as tools to design a new `made to measure’ nickel base superalloy for power plant applications. In Part 1 Gaussian processes were used to model the mechanical properties of superalloys, and have been used as a basis for the design of a new Ni ± Cr ± W ± Al ± Ti ± Fe ± Si ± C ± B superalloy with desirable properties. In this part, an attempt has been made to d...

Creep and fracture of metals : mechanisms and mechanics

Modern methodologies that aim to reduce conservatism in the design of components operating at high temperatures rely on accurate predictions of materials’ behaviour in conditions relevant to those experienced in service. This requirement has focussed the attention of materials engineers on developing a quantitative understanding of damage-accumulation in engineering alloys. The microstructure o...

Computational Design of Creep-resistant Alloys and Experimental Validation in Ferritic Superalloys

As an analogy to nickel-based superalloys, ferritic superalloys based on Fe-Al-Cr-Ni-Ti are proposed for high-temperature applications, especially for fossil-energy power systems. Integrated computational tools will be employed to investigate thermodynamic, kinetic, and meso-scale properties of the proposed alloy systems. Meanwhile, selected microstructural attributes in representative model fe...
