Silica-scaled chrysophytes during spring in the Kis-Balaton Reservoir, Hungary

چکیده
As a result of taking water samples in spring 1999, 26 species of silica-scaled chry sophytes were found in the Kis-Balaton Reservoir I, one of the most remarkable aquatic habitats in Hungary. From them, 23 have been identified with certainity, two were ques tionable and two were identified to genus level. 12 species are new to Hungary and 19 spe cies had not been found in Kis-Balaton before. Most of the species are widely distributed, occurring mainly in eutrophic waters. The most abundant species were Paraphysomonas vestita, Synurapetersenii and Mallomonas alpina, all three widely distributed, cosmopol itan species. Beside these, Mallomonas cratis and Mallomonas acaroides were found to be common members of the vernal flora of silica-scaled chrysophytes in Kis-Balaton. Mallomonas pseudocratis has been found only in a few places in the world, while Mallomonas alata and Mallomonas parvula have bipolar distribution.

Further observations on the scaled Chrysophycean and Synurophycean flora of the Ocala National Forest, Florida, U.S.A
The distributions of silica-scaled chrysophytes in 30 freshwater ponds located in the Ocala National Forest, Florida, U.S.A., relative to chemical gradients are described. Phytoplankton, periphyton, and surface sediments from each of the 30 sites were collected in March of 2000 and later analyzed extensively with both scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and light microscopy (LM) for scaled chrys...
متن کاملDiversity of silica-scaled chrysophytes in high-altitude Alpine sites (North Tyrol, Austria) including a description of Mallomonas pechlaneri sp. nov
To expand on the biodiversity study of the eastern Alpine region of North Tyrol, we investigated silica-scaled chrysophyte flora of unexplored high-altitude Alpine sites. We concentrated mostly on lakes that were 1000-2500 m above sea level; some of them were still partly ice covered. Overall, 27 taxa were recorded at 12 sites, despite 21 sites being sampled altogether. In general, the sites we...

متن کاملCategorizing Wetland Vegetation by Airborne Laser Scanning on Lake Balaton and Kis-Balaton, Hungary
Outlining patches dominated by different plants in wetland vegetation provides information on species succession, microhabitat patterns, wetland health and ecosystem services. Aerial photogrammetry and hyperspectral imaging are the usual data acquisition methods but the application of airborne laser scanning (ALS) as a standalone tool also holds promises for this field since it can be used to q...

Wetlands and water bodies in the Parana Delta River and Ibera System of northeast Argentina were studied for scaled chrysophytes. The Delta region of the Parana River is composed of a series of braided channels, streams and lagoons that extend over 17,500km2. Although the Delta is situated in the temperate zone, it experiences a more subtropical climate. The water ways of the Ibera System consi...
