چکیده

The suitability of polysilicon as a material for the fabrication of interdigitated electrodes and their application to the development of sensors is studied in this work. The main interest in using this material lies in the possibility of obtaining integrated sensors with commercial CMOS technologies and simple post-processing steps. Electrodes with 3μm finger width and 3, 10, and 20μm spacing were fabricated and characterised. Conductivity measurements in the range from 4 to 50μS/cm yielded a linear response with cell constants of 0.04cm, 0.15cm and 0.33cm, respectively. Permittivity measurements in the range from εr = 80.1 to εr = 1.89 yielded a linear response and similar cell constants. The possibility to functionalise both the electrode fingers and the space in between them using a single silanisation process is an interesting advantage of polysilicon electrodes. An urease-based biosensor was obtained with this procedure and characterisation results are reported.

Towards Fully Integrated Wireless Impedimetric Sensors

We report on the design and characterization of the building blocks of a single-chip wireless chemical sensor fabricated with a commercial complementary metal-oxide-silicon (CMOS) technology, which includes two types of transducers for impedimetric measurements (4-electrode array and two interdigitated electrodes), instrumentation circuits, and a metal coil and circuits for inductive power and ...

Functionalized nano interdigitated electrodes arrays on polymer with integrated microfluidics for direct bio-affinity sensing using impedimetric measurement

This paper presents a fully integrated nano interdigitated electrodes array (nIDA) and microfluidic system on polymer substrate. It can be sed as a miniaturized, sensitive, and easy-to-use impedimetric sensor for genomics, proteomics, and cellular analysis. The benefits gained from nanoscale IDA is very high sensitivity for monitoring protein binding behavior. With the intention of integrating ...

An Acetone Microsensor with a Ring Oscillator Circuit Fabricated Using the Commercial 0.18 μm CMOS Process

This study investigates the fabrication and characterization of an acetone microsensor with a ring oscillator circuit using the commercial 0.18 μm complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) process. The acetone microsensor contains a sensitive material, interdigitated electrodes and a polysilicon heater. The sensitive material is α-Fe2O3 synthesized by the hydrothermal method. The sensor re...

Impedimetric Biosensor to Enable Fast Evaluation of Gaseous Sterilization Processes

Sterilization of packages prior to product filling is a key step in aseptic filling machines. Chemical sterilization is one of the main conventional techniques in many packaging industries. To monitor the effect of sterilization on test microorganisms (Bacillus atrophaeus spores), an impedimetric sensor approach was developed based on a planar interdigitated electrode (IDE) design. In this work...
