چکیده
The carbon fixation pathway plays an essential role in the primary production and natural carbon recycling process. In this paper, we present a computational model of the carbon fixation pathway in the marine cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. WH 8102 (SYNWH8102), using our recently developed computational protocol for inference of regulatory and signaling pathways. The results of our pathway prediction include: (a) the pathway model consists of major components of the carbon fixation pathway reported in the literature. (b) Eight additional gene candidates were added into the model, making our pathway model more complete. (c) Two predicted transcription factor binding sites were found in the upstream regions of multiple genes involved in the carbon fixation pathway. (d) A list of more than 200 potential candidates associated with the pathway was also obtained for further experimental validation.

Computational inference and experimental validation of the nitrogen assimilation regulatory network in cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. WH 8102
Deciphering the regulatory networks encoded in the genome of an organism represents one of the most interesting and challenging tasks in the post-genome sequencing era. As an example of this problem, we have predicted a detailed model for the nitrogen assimilation network in cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. WH 8102 (WH8102) using a computational protocol based on comparative genomics analysis a...

Marine Synechococcus and Prochlorococcus are picocyanobacteria predominating in subtropical, oligotrophic marine environments, a niche predicted to expand with climate change. When grown under common low light conditions Synechococcus WH 8102 and Prochlorococcus MED 4 show similar Cytochrome b6f and Photosystem I contents normalized to Photosystem II content, while Prochlorococcus MIT 9313 has ...

متن کاملActive Transport of Inorganic Carbon Increases the Rate of O(2) Photoreduction by the Cyanobacterium Synechococcus UTEX 625.
Chlorophyll a fluorescence of Synechococcus UTEX 625 was quenched during the transport of inorganic carbon, even when CO(2) fixation was inhibited by iodoacetamide. Measurements with a pulse modulation fluorometer showed that at least 75% of the quenching was due to oxidation of Q(a), the primary acceptor of photosystem II. Mass spectrometry revealed that transport of inorganic carbon increased...
