Humeral rotation osteotomy for chronic posterior dislocation of the shoulder.

چکیده
Delay in the diagnosis of posterior shoulder dislocation is common. We present two such cases treated satisfactorily by rotation osteotomy of the surgical neck of the humerus and discuss the indications for this procedure.

Centering osteotomy for treatment of posterior shoulder dislocation in obstetrical palsy.
BACKGROUND The main objective of this study is to describe a new surgical technique that, through a gleno-humeral approach, reduces the incongruent joint while a humeral head centering osteotomy achieves shoulder stabilization. A humeral medial derotational osteotomy is performed associated with the articular reduction. PATIENTS AND METHODS Fourteen patients with obstetrical palsy presenting ...
متن کاملProximal humerus derotational osteotomy for internal rotation instability after locked posterior shoulder dislocation: early experience in four patients
BACKGROUND We performed a retrospective and descriptive study to determine the feasibility of proximal humerus derotational osteotomy in younger patients with significant humeral head depression, who may not be good candidates for shoulder arthroplasty. METHODS Rotational osteotomy was done on four patients with a mean age of 40 for locked posterior dislocation associated with a reverse Hill-...
متن کاملThe Effect of Humeral Head Defect Size on Glenohumeral Stability
INTRODUCTION: Patients with anterior shoulder instability often develop glenohumeral defects at the time of shoulder dislocation. Clinical and cadaveric research has demonstrated that glenoid bone defects have a significant impact on shoulder stability. 1,2 Humeral head bone defects occur with a similar high rate of frequency, and unlike glenoid bone defects, these defects tend to get larger wi...

Posterior dislocation of the shoulder is a rare but clinically and radiologically well-defined entity. It accounts for less than 2% of all dislocations of the shoulder,1,2 but is of diagnostic and therapeutic interest because most are missed on the initial e...
متن کاملSurgical correction of unsuccessful derotational humeral osteotomy in obstetric brachial plexus palsy: Evidence of the significance of scapular deformity in the pathophysiology of the medial rotation contracture
BACKGROUND The current method of treatment for persistent internal rotation due to the medial rotation contracture in patients with obstetric brachial plexus injury is humeral derotational osteotomy. While this procedure places the arm in a more functional position, it does not attend to the abnormal glenohumeral joint. Poor positioning of the humeral head secondary to elevation and rotation of...
