A Low Cost Molonglo Correlator

Introduction One critical area of the Molonglo system is the beamformer. The resistive array is custom made and some spares are unavailable for the computer that collects the data. It would be difficult to recover from a failure in either of these components. The use of this beamformer also results in data (beams) that cannot be processed by standard methods in imaging packages such as AIPS++ or Miriad. It also removes the considerable redundancy available in the telescope data.
