Pressure Dependence of Damping Constant of Dislocation Motion in Crystals

چکیده
Ultrasonic attenuation in Harshaw LiF and NaCl crystals in deformed and y-irradiated states has been measured at 5 a 100 MHz under hydrostatic pressure up to 3500 kg/cmz. By analyzing the data on the basis of the vibrating string model of dislocation, the pressure derivative of damping constant for dislocation motion was determined. The results were compared with theories of dislocation damping in crystals and reasonable agreement was obtained.

Improvement of the heave motion of a semi-submersible platform with damping sheets subjected to sea waves
In this study, the damping sheets were attached to a semi-submersible platform to mitigate the heave motions. We first examined a typical GVA4000 semi-sub under a monochromatic linear wave train in deep water. an analytical method based on diffraction theory was used to determine the heave motion response. The results revealed that the analytical results show good agreement with available exper...
متن کاملDislocation Mobility and Anomalous Shear Modulus Effect in 4 He Crystals
We calculate the dislocation glide mobility in solid He within a model that assumes the existence of a superfluid field associated with dislocation lines. Prompted by the results of this mobility calculation, we study within this model the role that such a superfluid field may play in the motion of the dislocation line when a stress is applied to the crystal. To do this, we relate the damping o...
متن کاملA Comparison of Glenohumeral Internal and External Range of Motion and Rotation Strength in Healthy and Individuals with Recurrent Anterior Instability
Background: The glenohumeral joint becomes dislocated more than any other major joint because it maintains a wide range of motion and its stability is inherently weak. The most common complication following acute initial shoulder dislocation is recurrent dislocation or chronic instability. Imbalance of strength and range of motion in individuals with anterior dislocation can be a contributing ...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Magnetorheological Damper Valve Configurations Using Finite Element Method
The main purpose of this paper is to study various configurations of a magnetorheological (MR) damper valve and to evaluate their performance indices typically dynamic range, valve ratio, inductive time constant and pressure drop. It is known that these performance indices (PI) of the damper depend upon the magnetic circuit design of the valve. Hence, nine valve configurations are considered fo...
متن کاملDynamic and Static Pull-in instability of electrostatically actuated nano/micro membranes under the effects of Casimir force and squeezed film damping
In the current study, the effects of Casimir force and squeeze film damping on pull-in instability and dynamic behavior of electrostatically actuated nano and micro electromechanical systems are investigated separately. Linear elastic membrane theory is used to model the static and dynamic behavior of the system for strip, annular and disk geometries. Squeeze film damping is modeled using nonli...
