It is believed to result from seepage of pancreatic enzymes into the systemic circulation, which leads to skin and occasionally joint manifestations. It is reported to occur in up to 3% of patients with pancreatic disease. Pancreatic panniculitis can develop before, concomitantly with, or after the diagnosis of clinically detectable pancreatic conditions. The condition is most frequently associated with acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis, and pancreatic carcinoma. The most common carcinoma is acinar cell type. Here we report an unusual association of pancreatic panniculitis preceding a single episode of acute pancreatitis and subsequent development of an intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN).

Successful management of life-threatening bleeding of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms in the pancreatic head
Complications associated with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms, such as acute pancreatitis, perforation, and fistula formation, have been documented. Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm with intratumoral hemorrhage is rare. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no previous reports of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm rupture and bleeding with intra-abdominal hemorrhage...

Background: We present a case of adenocarcinoma arising in the oncocytic subtype of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (O-IPMN), with emphasis on the molecular findings in the adenocarcinoma component. Tissue microdissection and next-generation sequencing were performed using a 26 gene panel (AKT1, ALK, APC, BRAF, CDH1, CTNNB1, EGFR, ERBB2, FBXW7, FGFR2, FOXL2, GNAQ, GNAS, KIT, KRAS, MAP2K...
متن کاملA case of annular pancreas accompanied with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm-case report.
OBJECTIVES Annular pancreas is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by pancreatic tissues wrapping completely or incompletely around the descending duodenum. In most patients with annular pancreas, onset occurs in early childhood. Adults with annular pancreas are prone to duodenal ulcers and pancreatitis. Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) is a type of papillary mucinous secretor...
متن کاملPost-ERCP pancreatogastric fistula associated with an intraductal papillary-mucinous neoplasm of the pancreas – a case report and literature review
BACKGROUND Fistula formation has been reported in intraductal papillary-mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) with or without invasion of the adjacent organs. The presence or absence of invasion is mostly determined by postoperative histological examination rather than by preoperative work-up. CASE PRESENTATION A 72 year-old Japanese woman showed remarkable dilatation of the main pancreatic duct (MPD) i...
متن کاملIntraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (IPMN) and chronic pancreatitis: overlapping pathological entities? Two case reports.
CONTEXT Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMNs) are a recently classified pancreatic neoplasm with an increasing incidence. IPMN is often misdiagnosed as chronic pancreatitis because of symptoms of relapsing abdominal pain, pancreatitis, and steatorrhea and imaging findings of a dilated pancreatic duct of cystic lesions that are frequently confused with pseudocysts. Early recognition o...
