چکیده

Results Of the 16 patients, 10 were treated with etanercept (62.5%), 1 with adalimumab (6.25%), and 5 (31.2%) with infliximab. Notably, two cases of uveitis were associated with use of etanercept. In 5 patients (31.2%) the antiTNF was changed because of lack of efficacy and/or side effects to another one (in 4/5 adalimumab). Ten patients had a complicated uveitis (cataract in 5). The number of relapses of uveitis was 4 ± 1.35 with the first anti-TNF, and 1.3 ± 1.5 with the second one. Remission of uveitis was obtained in 4 cases, 3 of them with adalimumab and one case with etanercept. Conclusion Anti-TNF agents have a favourable effect in JIA-associated uveitis, but adalimumab and perhaps infliximab may be more effective than etanercept, during which treatment uveitis may even develop. from 15th Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PreS) Congress London, UK. 14–17 September 2008

A phase II trial protocol of Tocilizumab in anti-TNF refractory patients with JIA-associated uveitis (the APTITUDE trial)

Background: Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common rheumatic disease in children. Children with JIA are at risk of intraocular inflammation (uveitis). In the initial stages of mild-moderate inflammation uveitis is asymptomatic. Most children with mild-moderate uveitis are managed on topical steroid drops with or without systemic methotrexate (MTX). When children with moderate-se...

Anti-TNF therapy for juvenile idiopathic arthritis-related uveitis

Juvenile idiopathic arthritis-related uveitis is the most common type of uveitis in childhood and one of the main causes of visual impairment in children. The introduction of biological treatment has widened the range of therapeutic options for children with uveitis refractory to standard nonbiologic immunosuppressants. Data from clinical trials suggest that both adalimumab and infliximab have ...

The disease has an insidious onset and is often asymptomatic. Managing patients with juvenile...

Infliximab Versus Adalimumab in the Treatment of Refractory Inflammatory Uveitis: A Multicenter Study From the French Uveitis Network.

OBJECTIVE To analyze the factors associated with response to anti-tumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) treatment and compare the efficacy and safety of infliximab (IFX) and adalimumab (ADA) in patients with refractory noninfectious uveitis. METHODS This was a multicenter observational study of 160 patients (39% men and 61% women; median age 31 years [interquartile range 21-42]) with uveitis that ...
