چکیده
Figure 1: Preoperative computer tomography scan showing adequate dimensions of the iliofemoral vessels and acceptable tortuosity for a transfemoral valve implantation (A). Deployment of the first 26-mm Sapien valve resulting in a paravalvular leakage >2+ (B). Implantation of a second valve to (asterisk) to cover the leakage, as the position of the first valve (hash) was considered to be too high. Subsequent dislocation and embolization of the second valve into the left ventricle (C). Surgical view of first (hash) and the embolized valve (asterisk) after aortotomy (D). After installation of extracorporeal circulation, both the embolized (E) and the initial valves (F) were removed and a conventional aortic valve replacement was conducted.

Transcatheter aortic valves have been designed to treat elderly patients considered high-risk surgical candidates. Transcatheter aortic valve embolization represents a new complication previously unreported in the surgical bioprosthetic valve literature. We report the case of a 79-year-old male who successfully underwent aortic valve replacement after transcatheter aortic valve dislodgment into...

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the need for a permanent pacemaker after transcatheter aortic valve implantation with the CoreValve prosthesis (Medtronic, Inc., Minneapolis, Minnesota) using the new Accutrak delivery system (Medtronic, Inc.). BACKGROUND The need for a permanent pacemaker is a recognized complication after transcatheter aortic valve implantation with the C...
متن کاملImpact of aortic regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve implantation: results from the REVIVAL trial.
OBJECTIVES Understanding the severity of aortic regurgitation (AR) after transcatheter aortic valve implantation, its impact on left ventricular (LV) structure and function, and the structural factors associated with worsening AR could lead to improvements in patient selection, implantation technique, and valve design. BACKGROUND Initial studies in patients at high risk of surgical aortic val...
متن کاملSurgical double valve replacement after transcatheter aortic valve implantation and interventional mitral valve repair.
Transcatheter aortic valve implantation, as well as interventional mitral valve repair, offer reasonable therapeutic options for high-risk surgical patients. We report a rare case of early post-interventional aortic valve prosthesis migration to the left ventricular outflow tract, with paravalvular leakage and causing severe mitral valve regurgitation. Initial successful interventional mitral v...
