چکیده

Constructivism is a learning theory that states that people learn by actively constructing their own knowledge, based on prior knowledge. A significant number of ICT-based constructivist learning systems have been proposed in recent years. A critical problem related to the design and use of this kind of systems has been the lack of a practical means to facilitate the instructional design process. Our research aims to help designing truly constructivist and adaptive learning environments. Our approach is based on a set of operational criteria for certain aspects of constructivism: We use these criteria as a useful pedagogical framework to provide tools and guidelines facilitating the instructional design process. One facet often mentioned as being strongly relevant to constructivism is cognitive flexibility. This paper presents COFALE—a new, domain-independent, and open-source elearning platform that could be used to build adaptive learning environments supporting cognitive flexibility—and an example of its use: the design of a course on recursion.

Quality Assessment of Cofale: an Authoring Tool for Adaptive Educational Hypermedia Systems

E-learning has become more learners centred because of adaptation. It is very difficult process to develop adaptive educational hypermedia systems because of complex nature of adaptation mechanism. There are several authoring tools through which it becomes very easy for everybody to develop such kind of systems. COFALE is also used for this purpose. It is an open source adaptive learning conten...

Hybrid Adaptive Educational Hypermedia ‎Recommender Accommodating User’s Learning ‎Style and Web Page Features‎

Personalized recommenders have proved to be of use as a solution to reduce the information overload ‎problem. Especially in Adaptive Hypermedia System, a recommender is the main module that delivers ‎suitable learning objects to learners. Recommenders suffer from the cold-start and the sparsity problems. ‎Furthermore, obtaining learner’s preferences is cumbersome. Most studies have only focused...

MOT 2.0: A Case Study on the Usefuleness of Social Modeling for Personalized E-Learning Systems

In this paper, we report on our findings from the first evaluation of MOT 2.0, an Adaptive Web 2.0 e-learning tool, which supports: 1) collaborative authoring (i.e. editing content of other users, describing content using tags, rating, commenting on the content, etc); 2) authoring for collaboration (i.e., adding author activities, such as defining groups of authors, subscribing to other authors...

Flexibility of Automatic Authoring for the Semantic Web

The LAOS model, a 5-layer adaptive hypermedia (AH) authoring model, was previously shown to specify a flexible framework for (collaborative) creation of material for the semantic web. However, for adaptive behavior, an author has to design not only basic semantic contents (and its alternatives), but also specify the desired dynamics of the system, which is rather cumbersome. Therefore, automati...

This paper presents an adaptive Web testing system where the adaptation of the testing procedure relies on the performance, the prior knowledge and the goals and preferences of the test participants. The main aim of the paper is to discuss the utility of the adaptive assessment tool. Therefore, the paper presents the authoring process of a number of adaptive assessments, where the educators uti...
