چکیده
Deductive object bases (DOBs) attempt to combine the advantages of de-ductive relational databases with those of object-oriented databases. From an application perspective it is often not clear for what kind of applications this combination yields signiicant advantages. We argue for supporting distributed design environments by deductive object bases as repositories and summarize experiences made with our system ConceptBase.

Metaschema Layering for XML
The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is based on the concept of schema languages, which are used for validation of XML documents. In most cases, the metamodeling view of XML-based application is rather simple, with XML documents being instances of some schema, which in turn is based on some schema language. In this paper, a metaschema layering approach for XML is presented, which is demonstrate...
متن کاملA unified architecture for data and message management
The ANSI/X3/SPARC study group on data bases has proposed a general architecture for a data base management system. 2 The keystone of this architecture is the conceptual schema which is an explicit description of the enterprise informations modelled in the data base. It portrays the entities, properties and relationships of interest in the enterprise and constitutes a stable platform in order to...
متن کاملInteroperation Key Schema for Social Media Tools in IP Multimedia Subsystem
IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is now being a solution for packet switched networks. The future generation network is amalgamating the infrastructure of Wireless / wireline for providing the standard interface for Internet services. Nevertheless, the network infrastructures like multimedia and non-multimedia do not have any native mechanism to interpret the key schema of client media tools to es...
متن کاملFIESTA: a framework for schema evolution in multidimensional databases
New application areas for databases like data warehousing and OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) deploy the multidimensional data model in order to describe the application domain. Consequently, OLAP systems are represented by a multidimensional database schema to adequately reflect the application semantics. FIESTA presents a methodology for the evolution of such multidimensional schemas. Cor...
متن کاملIRO - DB An object - oriented approach towards federated and interoperable DBMS 1
Todays application scenarios need more and more access to information stored and distributed among multiple database management systems which have various underlying data models and which model even the same real world aspects differently with respect to structure and granularity. Therefore, a system is needed which addresses these problems, providing the means to integrate heterogeneous data s...
