چکیده

We obtain global solutions of radiatively inefficiently accretion flows around black holes. Whether and where convection develops in a flow are self-consistently determined with the mixing-length theory. The solutions can be divided into three types according to the strength of normal viscosity. Type I solution corresponds to large viscosity parameter α>∼ 0.1, which is purely advectiondominated and with no convection, and has been extensively studied in the literature. Type II solution is for moderate α ∼ 0.01, which has a threezone structure. The inner zone is advection-dominated, the middle zone is convection-dominated and ranges from a few tens to a few thousands of gravitational radii, and the outer zone is convectively stable and matches outward a Keplerian disc. The net energy flux throughout the flow is inward as in type I solution. Type III solution which is for small α<∼ 0.001 consists of two zones as Abramowicz et al. suggested previously: an inner advection-dominated zone and an outer convection-dominated zone, separated at a radius of a few tens of gravitational radii. This type of solution has an outward net energy flux. In both type II and III solutions the radial density profile is between the 1/2 law of self-similar convection-dominated accretion flow model and the 3/2 law of self-similar advection-dominated accretion flow model, and the efficiency of energy release is found to be extremely low. Our results are in good agreement with those of recent numerical simulations.

Convection in radiatively inefficient back hole accretion flows

Recent numerical simulations of radiatively inefficient accretion flows onto compact objects have shown that convection is a general feature in such flows. Dissipation of rotational and gravitational energies in the accretion flows results in inward increase of entropy and development of efficient convective motions. Convectiondominated accretion flows (CDAFs) have a structure that is modified ...

On the Radial Structure of Radiatively Inefficient Accretion Flows with Convection

We consider the radial structure of radiatively inefficient hydrodynamic accretion flows around black holes. We show that low-viscosity flows consist of two zones: an outer convection-dominated zone and an inner advection-dominated zone. The transition between these two zones occurs at ∼ 50 Schwarzschild radii. Subject headings: accretion, accretion disks — black hole physics — convection Depar...

Radiatively Inefficient Accretion Disks

Radiatively inefficient (or advection dominated) disks are discussed at an introductory level. Ion supported and radiation supported flows are discussed, the different consequences of advection dominated flows onto black holes vs. solid surfaces (neutron stars, white dwarfs), hydrodynamics, the role of the ratio of specific heats, and the possible connection between ADAFs and outflows.

A Simplified Solution for Advection Dominated Accretion Flows with Outflow

The existence of outflow in the advection dominated accretion flows has been confirmed by both numerical simulations and observations. The outow models for ADAF have been investigated by several groups with a simple self similar solution. But this solution is inaccurate at the inner regions and can not explain the emitted spectrum of the flow; so, it is necessary to obtain a global solution for...

How Dim Accreting Black Holes Could Be?

Recent hydrodynamical simulations of radiatively inefficient black hole accretion flows with low viscosity have demonstrated that these flows differ significantly from those described by an advection-dominated model. The black hole flows are advectiondominated only in their inner parts, but convectively dominated at radii R ∼ > 10RG. In such flows, the radiative output comes mostly from the con...
