Combined phacoemulsification and removal of gas following macular hole surgery.

چکیده
We describe a technique for combined fluid-gas exchange and phacoemulsification 2 weeks after macular hole surgery to achieve rapid visual rehabilitation. The procedure uses a standard cataract set and requires minimal vitreoretinal expertise. We encountered no significant complications and obtained long-term outcomes comparable to those with conventional management.

AIMS To investigate the role of phacovitrectomy surgery without prone posture for stage 2 and 3 macular holes. METHODS A pilot study was performed on 20 patients (20 eyes) having phacoemulsification lens removal and vitrectomy surgery with 20% C(2)F(6) tamponade. Patients were advised to avoid lying on their backs for 10 days following surgery but no other posturing instructions were given. C...

PURPOSE To evaluate the visual and anatomical outcomes of macular hole surgery using phacoemulsification, vitrectomy and intraocular gas tamponade without the use of postoperative face down positioning. METHODS Phacoemulsification with an intraocular lens implant, followed by vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane peeling and perfluoropropane (C3F8), was performed in patients with stage 3...
