چکیده

Introduction The perceived clinical benefits of undertaking revascularisation to coronary artery chronic total occlusions (CTO) relate to improvements in angina symptoms and prognosis. Long term survival benefits from CTO revascularisation has been suggested in several large observational studies despite a significant failure rate. Data about the physiological consequences of successful opening of a CTO are limited and heterogeneous. CMR imaging can provide quantitative information on MBF (myocardial blood flow) in this context.

Collateral blood flow between left coronary artery bypass grafts and chronically occluded right coronary circulation in patients with triple vessel disease. Observations during complete revascularisation of beating hearts.

OBJECTIVE Preoperative measurements of collateral blood flow in patients with triple vessel disease and chronic occlusions of the right coronary artery do not, currently, ascertain the need to revascularise an occluded right coronary artery. We performed direct measurements of flow across left coronary bypass grafts to determine their contributions to collateral blood flow. METHODS Collateral...

Nicorandil effect on myocardial perfusion in patients with slow coronary flow phenomenon assessment by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT

Introduction:Patients with the coronary slow flow phenomenon (SCF) frequently experience angina episodes. The purpose of this study was to determine efficacy of nicorandil in myocardial perfusion in patients with SCF. Methods: Twenty patients (50.85 ± 12.96 y) with SCF were studied.  We evaluate coronary slow flow according to protracted thrombolysis in m...

Evaluation of a comprehensive cardiovascular magnetic resonance protocol in young adults late after the arterial switch operation for d-transposition of the great arteries

BACKGROUND In adults with prior arterial switch operation (ASO) for d-transposition of the great arteries, the need for routine coronary artery assessment and evaluation for silent myocardial ischemia is not well defined. In this observational study we aimed to determine the value of a comprehensive cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) protocol for the detection of coronary problems in adult...

A quantitative pixel-wise measurement of myocardial blood flow by contrast-enhanced first-pass CMR perfusion imaging: microsphere validation in dogs and feasibility study in humans.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to evaluate fully quantitative myocardial blood flow (MBF) at a pixel level based on contrast-enhanced first-pass cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in dogs and in patients. BACKGROUND Microspheres can quantify MBF in subgram regions of interest, but CMR perfusion imaging may be able to quantify MBF and differentiate blood flow at a much higher resol...

Design and rationale of the MR-INFORM study: stress perfusion cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging to guide the management of patients with stable coronary artery disease

BACKGROUND In patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD), decisions regarding revascularisation are primarily driven by the severity and extent of coronary luminal stenoses as determined by invasive coronary angiography. More recently, revascularisation decisions based on invasive fractional flow reserve (FFR) have shown improved event free survival. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (C...
