Image Quality Assessment - A Multiscale Geometric Analysis-Based Framework and Examples

چکیده
This chapter is about objective image quality assessment (IQA), which has been recognized as an effective and efficient way to predict the visual quality of distorted images. Basically, IQA has three different dependent degrees on original images, namely, full-reference (FR), noreference (NR), and reduced-reference (RR). To begin with, the fundamentals of IQA are introduced and a broad treatment of the current state-of-the-art IQA are also given. A novel framework for IQA is focused upon to mimic the human visual system (HVS) by incorporating the merits from multiscale geometric analysis (MGA), contrast sensitivity function (CSF), and Weber’s law of just noticeable difference (JND). Thorough empirical studies were carried out upon the laboratory for image and video engineering (LIVE) database against subjectivemean opinion score (MOS) and demonstrate that the proposed framework has good consistency with subjective perception values and the objective assessment results well reflect the visual quality of images.

Recent Approaches on No- Reference Image Quality Assessment for Contrast Distortion Images with Multiscale Geometric Analysis Transforms: a Survey
The study of Image Quality Assessment (IQA) in digital image and video processing is challenging due to the existences of numerous types of distortions such as blur, noise, blocking, contrast change, etc. Nevertheless, it is interesting to devise a metric system in order to determine the quality of an image quantitatively. Currently, most of the existing No Reference(NR)-IQA metrics focus on th...

Thanks to the explosive growth of sensing devices and capabilities, multidimensional (MD) signals — such as images, videos, multispectral images, light fields, and biomedical data volumes — have become ubiquitous. Multidimensional filter banks and the associated constructions provide a unified framework and an efficient computational tool in the formation, representation, and processing of thes...
متن کاملMultiscale Image Segmentation Using Joint Texture and Shape Analysis
We develop a general framework to simultaneously exploit texture and shape characterization in multiscale image segmentation. By posing multiscale segmentation as a model selection problem, we invoke the powerful framework ooered by minimum description length (MDL). This framework dictates that multiscale segmentation comprises multiscale texture characterization and multiscale shape coding. An...

This study is a contribution to assess the high resolution digital aerial imagery for semi-automatic analysis of tree species identification. To maximize the benefit of such data, the object-based classification was conducted in a mixed forest plantation. Two subsets of an UltraCam D image were geometrically corrected using aero-triangulation method. Some appropriate transformations were perfor...
