Influence of Fiber Orientation and Thickness on Tensile Properties of Laminated Polymer Composites

چکیده
The objective of this research was to gain a better understanding of tensile properties of epoxy resin composites reinforced with glass fiber. The effect of fiber orientation & thickness of laminates has been investigated & experimentation was performed to determine property data for material specifications, the laminates were obtained by hand layup process. The laminates were cut to obtain ASTM standards. The test ready specimens were subjected to tensile loads on UTM machine. This research indicates that tensile strength is mainly dependent on the fiber orientation & thickness of laminated polymer composites.

This work investigates the feasibility of using recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE), recycled polypropylene (rPP) and old newsprint fiber (ONP) to manufacture fiber reinforced composites. The boards were made through air-forming and hot press. The effects of the fiber loading and coupling agent content on tensile, flexural, internal bond properties and water absorption and thickness swel...
متن کاملInfluence of Interleaved Films on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon Fiber Fabric/Polypropylene Thermoplastic Composites
A laminated composite was produced using a thermoplastic prepreg by inserting an interleaved film with the same type of matrix as the prepreg during the lay-up process to improve the low interlaminar properties, which is a known weakness of laminated composites. Carbon fiber fabric (CFF) and polypropylene (PP) were used to manufacture the thermoplastic prepregs. Eight prepregs were used to prod...

One of the greatest impediments to use polymer-matrix composites is their susceptibility to degradation when exposed to the elevated temperatures and the limited knowledge on the thermal and mechanical properties of these composites at such temperatures. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of accelerated heat aging on the tensile properties of the Woven Basalt/Phenolic (WBP) ...
