GRASP with Path Relinking for the Two-Echelon Vehicle Routing Problem

چکیده
We propose a meta-heuristic based on GRASP combined with Path Relinking to address the Two-Echelon Vehicle Routing Problem, an extension of the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem in which the delivery from a single depot to customers is achieved by routing and consolidating the freight through intermediate depots called satellites. The problem is treated by separating the depot-to-satellite transfer and the satellite-to-customer delivery, and iteratively solving the two resulting routing subproblems, while adjusting the satellite workloads that link them. The meta-heuristic scheme consists of applying a GRASP and a local search procedure in sequence. Then, the resulting solution is linked to an elite solution by means of a Path Relinking procedure. To escape from infeasible solutions, which are quite common in this kind of problem, a feasibility search procedure is applied within Path Relinking. Extensive computational results on instances with up to 50 customers and 5 satellites show that the meta-heuristic is able to improve literature results, both in efficiency and accuracy.

A Metaheuristic Algorithm for the Minimum Routing Cost Spanning Tree Problem
The routing cost of a spanning tree in a weighted and connected graph is defined as the total length of paths between all pairs of vertices. The objective of the minimum routing cost spanning tree problem is to find a spanning tree such that its routing cost is minimum. This is an NP-Hard problem that we present a GRASP with path-relinking metaheuristic algorithm for it. GRASP is a multi-start ...
متن کاملA new Bi-objective model for a Two-echelon Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem for Perishable Products with the Environmental Factor
In multi-echelon distribution strategy freight is delivered to customers via intermediate depots. Rather than using direct shipments, this strategy is an increasingly popular one in urban logistics. This is primarily to alleviate the environmental (e.g., energy usage and congestion) and social (e.g., traffic-related air pollution, accidents and noise) consequences of logistics operations. This ...

1 Path relinking for the vehicle routing problem Path relinking is a relatively new metaheuristic technique for combinatorial optimization, proposed by Glover (see e.g. [3]). Path relinking attempts to find new good solutions by examining the solutions that are on a path from an initial (incumbent) to a final (guiding) solution. By definition, each move on the path makes the solution more diffe...
متن کاملComparing Two-Echelon and Single-Echelon Multi-Objective Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problems
This paper aims to compare a two-echelon and a single-echelon distribution system. A mathematical model for the Single-Echelon Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (SE-CVRP) is proposed. This SE-CVRP is the counterpart of Two-Echelon Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem (2E-CVRP) introduced in the authors’ previous work. The proposed mathematical model is Mixed-Integer Non-Linear Programming (MIN...
متن کاملA multi-objective Two-Echelon Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem for perishable products
This article addresses a general tri-objective two-echelon capacitated vehicle routing problem (2E-CVRP) to minimize the total travel cost, customers waiting times and carbon dioxide emissions simultaneously in distributing perishable products. In distributing perishable products, customers’ satisfaction is very important and is inversely proportional to the customers waiting times. The propose...
