A secure and efficient password-authenticated group key exchange protocol for mobile ad hoc networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Password-authenticated group key exchange protocols enable communication parties to establish a common secret key (a session key) by only using short secret passwords. Such protocols have been receiving significant attention. This paper shows some security weaknesses in some recently proposed passwordauthenticated group key exchange protocols. Furthermore, a secure and efficient password-authenticated group key exchange protocol in mobile ad hoc networks is proposed. It only requires constant round to generate a group session key under the dynamic scenario. In other words, the overhead of key generation is independent of the size of a total group. Further, the security properties of our protocol are formally validated by a model checking tool called AVISPA. Security and performance analyses show that, compared with other related group key exchange schemes, the proposed protocol is also efficient for real-world applications in enhancing the security over wireless communications. Security in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
An ad hoc network is a collection of wireless nodes that dynamically form a temporary network and operates without the use of existing network infrastructure. In the near future, many personal electronic devices will be able to communicate with each other over a short-range wireless channel. We investigate the principal security issues for such an environment. The traditional way of protecting ...
متن کاملA secure anonymous routing protocol with authenticated key exchange for ad hoc networks
Anonymity and authenticated key exchange should be paid much more attention in secure mobile ad hoc routing protocols, especially in privacy-vital environment. However, as far as we know, few papers on secure routing protocols have addressed both the anonymity and authenticated key exchange. Therefore, in this paper, we present a new secure anonymous routing protocol with authenticated key exch...
متن کاملA New Group Key Management Protocol for Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are characterized by multi-hop wireless connectivity and frequently changing network topology. Forming security association among a group of nodes in ad-hoc networks is more challenging than in conventional networks due to the lack of central authority, i.e. fixed infrastructure. With that view in mind, group key management plays an important building block of any secure group c...
متن کاملProvable Password-Authenticated Key Exchange Protocol against Imposter Attack on Ad Hoc Networks
In wireless ad hoc networks environment, Bellovin and Merritt first developed a password-based Encrypted Key Exchange (EKE) protocol against offline dictionary attacks using both symmetric and public-key cryptography independent of the public key infrastructure (PKI). In this paper, we first discover that there exist some weaknesses in EKE protocol that is subjected to imposter attacks based on...
متن کاملNew Efficient Password Authenticated Key Exchange Protocol for Imbalanced Wireless Networks
Yeh et al. recently proposed a password-based authenticated key exchange protocol based on RSA for imbalanced wireless networks. However, several scholars pointed out that Yeh et al.’s protocol is insecure against off-line password guessing attacks and inefficient enough for mobile devices in terms of the computational load. This paper will propose a new efficient and secure password authentica...
