چکیده
Visual thinking plays an important role in scientiic reasoning. Based on the research in automating diverse reasoning tasks about dynamical systems, nonlinear controllers, kine-matic mechanisms, and uid motion, we have identiied a style of visual thinking, imagistic reasoning. Imagistic reasoning organizes computations around image-like, analogue representations so that perceptual and symbolic operations can be brought to bear to infer structure and behavior. Programs incorporating imagistic reasoning have been shown to perform at an expert level in domains that defy current analytic or numerical methods. We have developed a computational paradigm, spatial aggregation, to unify the description of a class of imagistic problem solvers. A program written in this paradigm has the following properties. It takes a continuous eld and optional objective functions as input, and produces high-level descriptions of structure, behavior, or control actions. It computes a multi-layer of intermediate representations, called spatial aggregates, by forming equivalence classes and adjacency relations. It employs a small set of generic operators such as aggregation, classiication, and localization to perform bidirectional mapping between the information-rich eld and successively more abstract spatial aggregates. It uses a data structure, the neighborhood graph, as a common interface to modularize computations. To illustrate our theory, we describe the computational structure of three implemented problem solvers { kam, maps, and hipair | in terms of the spatial aggregation generic operators by mixing and matching a library of commonly used routines.

Background & Aims: Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the abnormal aggregation of amyloid-β plaques in the brain. Although several studies have been done for finding effective medicines in the treatment of this disease, a drug that inhibits amyloid β aggregation and ameliorates the disorder has not been approved so far. One important therapeutic approach is use...
متن کاملON THE FUZZY SET THEORY AND AGGREGATION FUNCTIONS: HISTORY AND SOME RECENT ADVANCES
Several fuzzy connectives, including those proposed by Lotfi Zadeh, can be seen as linear extensions of the Boolean connectives from the scale ${0,1}$ into the scale $[0,1]$. We discuss these extensions, in particular, we focus on the dualities arising from the Boolean dualities. These dualities allow to transfer the results from some particular class of extended Boolean functions, e.g., from c...

In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) due to unfavorable environmental conditions that sensor nodes are placed into and some other reasons, power limitation of sensor nodes is the main challenge. Emerging in-network aggregation techniques are increasingly being sought to overcome this limitation and to save energy. Data aggregation methods can be facilitated by cluster based communication model. O...

In this work, we define a fuzzy soft set theory and its related properties. We then define fuzzy soft aggregation operator that allows constructing more efficient decision making method. Finally, we give an example which shows that the method can be successfully applied to many problems that contain uncertainties.
متن کاملMeaningful spatial prediction and aggregation
The appropriateness of spatial prediction methods such as Kriging, or aggregation methods such as summing observation values over an area, is currently judged by domain experts using their knowledge and expertise. In order to provide support from information systems for automatically discouraging or proposing prediction or aggregation methods for a dataset, expert knowledge needs to be formaliz...
متن کاملStochastic Aggregation: Scaling Properties
In the preceding study, we introduced a stochastic aggregation process involving both active and passive clusters [1]. We generalized Smoluchowski’s rate equations and obtained exact results for several kernels. In this study, we apply stochastic aggregation to reactiondiffusion, coarsening, and ballistic agglomeration problems. Our goal is to examine the range of validity the mean-field result...
