Protective and Vulnerability Mechanisms

چکیده
There are two approaches for studying protective and vulnerability mechanisms in resilience research – person based approach and variable based approach (see Chapter two). We used both the approaches to understand the role of meaning systems and political ideologies in fostering resilience or predicting vulnerability among adolescents in Kashmir. The person-based analysis compares groups differing in their levels of risk and resilience and the variable based analysis studies the interaction between different variables and both these approaches were aimed at investigating the moderating and mediating effects of meaning systems and political ideologies on the relation between risks, resilience and vulnerability. This chapter therefore tests various models explaining the role of religious meaning systems and political ideology (sixth objective) and it also tests the two moderating and mediating hypotheses.

Vulnerability and Protective Factors for Child Abuse and Maltreatment
Child abuse occurs across cultures and societies, remaining a critically important public health and policy issue due to its myriad detrimental outcomes. A substantial body of research now focuses on identifying vulnerability and protective factors that moderate children's risk of abuse in tee hopes of being able to understand the mechanisms underlying why and how abuse occurs and to prevent it...
متن کاملEvaluation of Anticonvulsant Effects of Nimodipine and Ascorbic Acid on Pentylenetetrazole- Induced Seizures in Mice
Introduction: The mechanisms underlying the vulnerability of the brain to seizures remains unknown. Calcium ions influx and oxidative stress have been implicated in a variety of acute and chronic epileptogenic conditions. The present study was aimed at investigating the effects of nimodipine and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) alone and in combination on pentylenetetrazole (PTZ) - induced seizures ...

متن کاملIdentification of protective actions to reduce the vulnerability of safety-critical systems to malevolent acts: A sensitivity-based decision-making approach
A classification model based on the Majority Rule Sorting method has been previously proposed by the authors to evaluate the vulnerability of safety-critical systems (e.g., nuclear power plants) with respect to malevolent intentional acts. In this paper, we consider a classification model previously proposed by the authors based on the Majority Rule Sorting method to evaluate the vulnerability ...
