چکیده
Results Conservative treatment was indicated in 393 patients. 27% of patients do not accept the proposed treatment or interrupt it spontaneously. 23% of patients have a physiological angulation less than 44° at the end of treatment. 43% of patients were reviewed two years after removal of the brace. The initial kyphosis angle was 60.5°. The final angulation 2 years after removal of the brace was 41°. Among the 262 patients who performed the full treatment: All patients who had pain before treatment were relieved of that pain after treatment began. 79% were fully corrected with final angulation < 45°. 17% were stabilized with a final angulation between 45° and 55°. 11% retained an angle of > 55° and can be considered as treatment failures. In total, 222 patients were reviewed more than 10 years after removal of the brace. The angle remains stable in 21 cases.

Comparing In-Brace Correction, Compliance and Quality of Life in Patients with Thoracic Hyperkyphosis Wearing Milwaukee and Lyon Braces
Background: A thoracic curve degree of greater than 45° leads to thoracic hyperkyphosis, and its common treatment method is orthotic treatment. The acceptance rate of spinal orthosis depends on in-brace correction, patient`s compliance and quality of life. Objective: In this study, we aimed to compare in-brace correction, compliance and quality of life in patients with thoracic hyperkyphosis ...
متن کاملLyon bracing in adolescent females with thoracic idiopathic scoliosis: a prospective study based on SRS and SOSORT criteria
BACKGROUND The Lyon brace is commonly prescribed in many European countries to patients with thoracic curves and is based on the three-point pressure system. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Lyon bracing for the conservative treatment of adolescent females with idiopathic thoracic curves in a case series selected on the basis of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Comm...

Methods This study design is a controlled prospective study using a population of 40 adolescent outpatients (19 male, 21 female) with hyperkyphosis who were divided into 2 exercise groups and treated with exercise until end-growth. SEAS Groups (18 subjects) were treated with specific SEAS exercises at our centers. The control group (22 subjects) were treated with "classical" exercises at differ...
متن کاملRelationships between falls, vertebral fractures, increased kyphosis and a flexed posture in elderly: a prospective cohort study
Introduction: Vertebral fractures, thoracic kyphosis and flexed posture are associated with reported falls in cohort studies with elderly, but not yet confirmed as a risk factor in a prospective study. The purpose of the present study was to investigate whether elderly patients with vertebral fractures, hyperkyphosis or flexed posture experience more fall incidents than patients without these c...
متن کاملHistorical Lyonaise brace treatment for adolescent hyperkyphosis. Results of 272 cases reviewed 2 years minimum after removal of the brace
Introduction The conservative orthopaedic treatment of hyperkyphosis is less classical than the scoliosis one, because Hyperkyphosis does not affect the respiratory function, and it is more difficult to define normality. The consequences of hyperkyphosis are mainly pain and aesthetic. In English literature very few homogeneous series of results are published. Lowe [1] in a review of the current...
