چکیده
Bounds are presented on Zi,i,d,-the achievable information rate for a discrete Gaussian channel with intersymbol interference (IS11 present and i.i.d. channel input symbols governed by an arbitrary predetermined distribution p , (x ) . Upper bounds on I , the achievable information rate with the symbol independence demand relaxed, are given as well. The bounds are formulated in terms of the average mutual information of a memoryless Gaussian channel with scaled i.i.d. input symbols governed by the same symbol distribution p , ( x ) where the scaling value is interpreted a s a n enhancement (upper bounds) o r degradation (lower bounds) factor. The bounds apply for channel symbols with a n arbitrary symbol distribution p,(x), discrete as well us continuous, and thus facilitate bounding the capacity of the IS1 (dispersive) Gaussian channel under a variety of constraints imposed on the identically distributed channel

Gaussian Z Channel with Intersymbol Interference
In this paper, we derive a capacity inner bound for a synchronous Gaussian Z channel with intersymbol interference (ISI) under input power constraints. This is done by converting the original channel model into an n-block memoryless circular Gaussian Z channel (n-CGZC) and successively decomposing the n-block memoryless channel into a series of independent parallel channels in the frequency dom...
متن کاملProper complex random processes with applications to information theory
The “covariance” of complex random variables and processes, when defined consistently with the corresponding notion for real random variables, is shown to be determined by the usual (complex) covariance together with a quantity called the pseudo-covariance. A characterization of uncorrelatedness and wide-sense stationarity in terms of covariance and pseudocovariance is given. Complex random var...
متن کاملA New Successively Decodable Coding Technique for Intersymbol-Interference Channels
For the Gaussian channel with intersymbolinterference (ISI), it is known that there is no loss in channel capacity if the receiver is an ideal minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) with error-free feedback. However, combining the DFE with channel coding is problematic. Transmitter precoding and reduced-state sequence estimation are two common approaches (cf. [1] an...
متن کاملStationary Sources over Linear Gaussian Noise Channels
We consider a linear Gaussian noise channel used with delayed feedback. The channel noise is assumed to be an ARMA (autoregressive and/or moving average) process. We reformulate the Gaussian noise channel into an intersymbol interference channel with white noise, and show that the delayed-feedback of the original channel is equivalent to the instantaneous-feedback of the derived channel. By gen...
متن کاملAchievable Rates for Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding
This correspondence examines Tomlinson–Harashima precoding (THP) on discrete-time channels having intersymbol interference and additive white Gaussian noise. An exact expression for the maximum achievable information rate of zero-forcing (ZF) THP is derived as a function of the channel impulse response, the input power constraint, and the additive white Gaussian noise variance. Information rate...
