چکیده

We present a study on the magnetic anisotropy and magnetization reversal of Fes110d islands grown on Al2O3 versus the island size, the island size distribution, and the magnetic interaction between islands. For small islands magnetically connected via a polarizable capping layer, the samples behave as a uniform film with an induced uniaxial in-plane anisotropy. Magnetically isotropic samples are obtained when the islands size is increased. Transverse susceptibility measurements show that the magnetic anisotropy of the particles is macroscopically averaged due to the interisland magnetic interaction. The island size distribution is correlated to the magnetic anisotropy field dispersion. When the capping layer material is Al, a superparamagnetic behavior is found due to the absence of the interisland interaction. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. fDOI: 10.1063/1.1895465g

Capping-layer-induced magnetic coupling in a two-dimensional nanostructured system

The magnetic polarization of a Pt capping layer leads to an increase of the interisland magnetic coupling in a two-dimensional array of Fe islands. For small superparamagnetic islands, Pt deposition leads to a superparamagnetic–ferromagnetic transition. For larger ferromagnetic but weakly coupled islands, Pt deposition produces a stronger interisland coupling. Polar Kerr spectroscopy measuremen...

Magnetic and Electrical Properties of Nanocrystalline Fe85Si10Ni5/Phenolic Resin Soft Magnetic Composites

In this work, nanocrystalline Fe85Si10Ni5 soft magnetic powders were prepared by mechanical alloying and subsequent annealing to reduce the internal stresses and lattice strains. The powders were mixed with phenolic resin and warm pressed to produce nanostructured soft magnetic composites. The effect of annealing time and temperature on the crystalline structure, microstructure and magnetic pro...

Tunable magnetic properties of arrays of Fe(110) nanowires grown on kinetically-grooved W(110) self-organized templates

We report a detailed magnetic study of a new type of self-organized nanowires disclosed briefly previously [B. Borca et al., Appl. Phys. Lett. 90, 142507 (2007)]. The templates, prepared on sapphire wafers in a kinetically-limited regime, consist of uniaxially-grooved W(110) surfaces, with a lateral period here tuned to 15 nm. Fe deposition leads to the formation of (110) 7 nm-wide wires locate...

Synthesis, Characterization and Investigation Magnetic and Photovoltaic properties of FeVO4 Nanoparticles

This research reports a facile ultrasonic approach for the synthesis of iron vanadate (FeVO4) nanoparticles with the aid of ammonium metavanadate (NH4VO3) and Fe(NO3)3.9H2O as the starting reagents without adding external surfactant, capping agent or template in an aqueous solution. Furthermore, to examine the solar cell application of as-synthesized iron vanadate (FeVO4) nanoparticles, FTO/TiO...
