The Directed Homotopy Hypothesis

چکیده
The homotopy hypothesis was originally stated by Grothendieck [13] : topological spaces should be “equivalent” to (weak) ∞-groupoids, which give algebraic representatives of homotopy types. Much later, several authors developed geometrizations of computational models, e.g. for rewriting, distributed systems, (homotopy) type theory etc. But an essential feature in the work set up in concurrency theory, is that time should be considered irreversible, giving rise to the field of directed algebraic topology. Following the path proposed by Porter, we state here a directed homotopy hypothesis: Grandis’ directed topological spaces should be “equivalent” to a weak form of topologically enriched categories, still very close to (∞,1)-categories. We develop, as in ordinary algebraic topology, a directed homotopy equivalence and a weak equivalence, and show invariance of a form of directed homology. 1998 ACM Subject Classification G. Relative Directed Homotopy Theory of Partially Ordered Spaces
Algebraic topological methods have been used successfully in concurrency theory, the domain of theoretical computer science that deals with parallel computing. L. Fajstrup, E. Goubault, and M. Raussen have introduced partially ordered spaces (pospaces) as a model for concurrent systems. In this paper it is shown that the category of pospaces under a fixed pospace is both a fibration and a cofib...
متن کاملHomotopy equivalence of isospectral graphs
In previous work we defined a Quillen model structure, determined by cycles, on the category Gph of directed graphs. In this paper we give a complete description of the homotopy category of graphs associated to our model structure. We endow the categories of N-sets and Z-sets with related model structures, and show that their homotopy categories are Quillen equivalent to the homotopy category H...
متن کاملOn directed homotopy equivalences and a notion of directed topological complexity
This short note introduces a notion of directed homotopy equivalence (or dihomotopy equivalent) and of “directed” topological complexity (which elaborates on the notion that can be found in e.g. [9]) which have a number of desirable joint properties. In particular, being dihomotopically equivalent implies having bisimilar natural homologies (defined in [5]). Also, under mild conditions, directe...
متن کاملCubical Approximation for Directed Topology I
Topological spaces—such as classifying spaces, configuration spaces and spacetimes—often admit directionality. Qualitative invariants on such directed spaces often are more informative, yet more difficult, to calculate than classical homotopy invariants because directed spaces rarely decompose as homotopy colimits of simpler directed spaces. Directed spaces often arise as geometric realizations...
