Background Increases in ethnic diversity and globalization of healthcare have made it imperative to develop a culturally competent nursing workforce. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), National League for Nursing (NLN), and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) support this effort. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of contemporary literature and cultural learning activities in an undergraduate nursing curriculum.
