anti-choleraic inoculation of tea-garden coolies. M. Haffkine said that he was asked in 1894 by Surgeon-Colonel Stephen to introduce the system of inoculation into tea-growing districts in Assam. He spent nearly a year over the work, until he was obliged to leave India onaccount of broken health. During this time 11,665 inoculations were performed in 43 gardens,as well as amongst the labour force connected with other industries in Assam. After his departure the operations were carried on
