Diterpenes and a new benzaldehyde from the mangrove plant Rhizophora mangle

چکیده
This work describes the isolation, by high-speed counter-current chromatography, of the diterpenes manool, jhanol and steviol and the benzaldehyde p-oxy-2-ethylhexyl benzaldehyde from the stilt roots hexane extract of the mangrove plant Rhizophora mangle L., Rhizophoraceae. For this, a non-aqueous biphasic solvent system composed of hexane–acetonitrile–methanol 1:1:0.5 (v/v/v) was applied. As far as we know, only steviol was previously isolated in Rhizophoraceae and this is the first time that p-oxyanool hanol teviol -Oxy-2-ethylhexyl benzaldehyde hizophora mangle hizophoraceae 2-ethylhexyl benzaldehyde is reported. © 2016 Sociedade Brasileira de Farmacognosia. Epiphytic diatoms associated with red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle) prop roots in Bahía Magdalena, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
The first floristic inventory of benthic diatoms is provided for the Bahia Magdalena-Bahia Almejas lagoon system. Samplings were carried out during November of 1999. The oxydized samples were mounted permanently. Eighty six diatom taxa were identified, out of which 59 are new records for the Bahia Magdalena area, and 12 taxa are new for the Baja California peninsula. Taxa recorded previously as...
متن کاملMeasuring the effects of salinity stress in the red mangrove, Rhizophora mangle L
The mangrove habitat exhibits many unique physical features, one of the most important of which is a salinity gradient. Photosynthetic rates, as measured by leaf stomatal conductance and leaf chlorophyll fluorescence induction, were tested as indicators of salinity stress in seedlings of the red mangrove, Rhizophora mangle, grown under five different salinity levels: 0, 15, 30, 45, and 60 parts...
متن کاملEffects of Salinity Fluctuation on Photosynthetic Gas Exchange and Plant Growth of The Red Mangrove (Rhizophora mangle L.)
The red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle L.) in southern Florida occurs frequently in two distinct growth forms, tall and scrub plants, with the scrub form usually found in coastal inland areas having a higher fluctuation of soil water salinity. In the present study, effects of constant and fluctuating salinities on leaf gas exchange and plant growth of red mangrove seedlings were investigated under...
متن کاملPopulation genetic structure, introgression, and hybridization in the genus Rhizophora along the Brazilian coast
Mangrove plants comprise plants with similar ecological features that have enabled them to adapt to life between the sea and the land. Within a geographic region, different mangrove species share not only similar adaptations but also similar genetic structure patterns. Along the eastern coast of South America, there is a subdivision between the populations north and south of the continent's nor...
متن کاملIsolation of microsatellite markers for the red mangrove, Rhizophora mangle (Rhizophoraceae)1
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Three species of the mangrove tree genus Rhizophora are found in the New World and along the west coast of Africa. Of these, R. mangle is the most abundant and has a complex interbreeding relationship with the sympatric R. racemosa and R. harrisonii. The development of additional microsatellite markers would permit paternity analyses and investigation of the h...
