Designing sampling grids from imprecise information on soil variability, an approach based on the fuzzy kriging variance

چکیده

It is shown how, given a fuzzy formulation of the variogram of a soil property, a fuzzy set of grid spacings that will achieve a target kriging variance can be derived. This fuzzy set of grid spacings can then be defuzzified in a more or less conservative way to define a sampling scheme. The method is illustrated in three examples. The first uses a hypothetical fuzzy variogram. The second is a fuzzy variogram for topsoil organic carbon content in a field, based on the crisp variogram of a related ancillary variable and generalized information on topsoil variability at field scales. The third fuzzy variogram is for topsoil pH, assuming no local knowledge but representing in fuzzy form the range of variability in a collection of variograms for this property in the soil science literature. q 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. Grade estimation of Zu2 Jajarm deposit by considering imprecise variogram model parameters based on the extension principle

Nowadays, kriging has been accepted as the most common method of grade estimation in mineral resource evaluation stage. Access to the crisp assay data and a variogram model are the necessary means for the utilization of this method. Since fitting a crisp variogram model is generally difficult, if not impossible, the fitted theoretical model is usually tainted with uncertainty due to various rea...

Assessment of soil property spatial variation based on the geostatistical simulation

The main objective in the present study was to assess the spatial variation of chemical and physical soil properties and then use this information to select an appropriate area to install a pasture rehabilitation experiment in the Zereshkin region, Iran. A regular 250 m grid was used for collecting a total of 150 soil samples (from 985 georeferenced soil pits) at 0 to 30, and 30 to 60 cm layers...
