چکیده

The SLIM experiment at the Chacaltaya high altitude laboratory was sensitive to nuclearites and Q-balls, which could be present in the cosmic radiation as possible Dark Matter components. It was sensitive also to strangelets, i.e. small lumps of Strange Quark Matter predicted at such altitudes by various phenomenological models. The analysis of 427 m of Nuclear Track Detectors exposed for 4.22 years showed no candidate event. New upper limits on the flux of downgoing nuclearites and Q-balls at the 90% C.L. were established. The null result also restricts models for strangelets propagation through the Earth atmosphere.

Strange quark matter attached to string cloud in general scalar tensor theory of gravitation

Bianchi type-VI0 space time with strange quark matter attached to string cloud in Nordtvedt [1] general scalar tensor theory of gravitation with the help of a special case proposed by Schwinger [2] is obtained. The field equations have been solved by using the anisotropy feature of the universe in the Bianchi type-VI0 space time. Some important features of the model, thus obtained, have been di...

محاسبه ساختار ستاره کوارکی

In this paper, we have considered that the strange-star consists of quark matter from its center to surface. For quark matter, we have used two models, the MIT bag model and string-flip like model. In the bag model, the energy of the system has been considered the kinetic energy of the particles of system in addition to a constant B. We have considered two states for B, one of them is constant...

SEARCH FOR “ LIGHT ” MAGNETIC MONOPOLES The SLIM

We propose to implement one passive nuclear track detector array of 400 m at the Chacaltaya High Altitude Laboratory (5230 m a.s.l.). The main purposes of the experiment concern the searches for magnetic monopoles of relatively low masses at the Parker bound level, searches for low mass nuclearites, and searches for some supersymmetric dark matter candidates (Q-balls).

Rare Particle Searches with the high altitude SLIM experiment

The search for rare particles in the cosmic radiation remains one of the main aims of non-accelerator particle astrophysics. Experiments at high altitude allow lower mass thresholds with respect to detectors at sea level or underground. The SLIM experiment is a large array of nuclear track detectors located at the Chacaltaya High Altitude Laboratory (5290 m a.s.l.). The preliminary results from...

Strangelets, Nuclearites, Q-balls—A Brief Overview

Astrophysical bounds on the properties and abundances of primordial quark nuggets and cosmic ray strangelets are reviewed. New experiments to search for cosmic ray strangelets in lunar soil and from the International Space Station are described. Analogies with baryonic and supersymmetric Q-balls are briefly mentioned, as are prospects for strangelets as ultra-high energy cosmic rays.
