QBT-Extended: An Annotated Dataset of Melodically Contoured Tapped Queries

چکیده
Query by tapping remains an intuitive yet underdeveloped form of content-based querying. Tapping databases suffer from small size and often lack useful annotations about users and query cues. More broadly, tapped representations of music are inherently lossy, as they lack pitch information. To address these issues, we publish QBT-Extended—an annotated dataset of over 3,300 tapped queries of pop song excerpts, along with a system for collecting them. The queries, collected from 60 users for 51 songs, contain both time stamps and pitch positions of tap events and are annotated with information about the user, such as musical training and familiarity with each excerpt. Queries were performed from both short-term and longterm memory, cued by lyrics alone or lyrics and audio. In the present paper, we characterize and evaluate the dataset and perform initial analyses, providing early insights into the added value of the novel information. While the current data were collected under controlled experimental conditions, the system is designed for large-scale, crowdsourced data collection, presenting an opportunity to expand upon this richer form of tapping data.

Syntactic Analysis of Web Queries with Question Intent
Accurate automatic processing of Web queries is important for high quality information retrieval from the Web. While the syntactic structure of a large portion of these queries is trivial, the structure of queries with question intent is much richer. In this paper we therefore extend the standard dependency grammar to describe the syntax of queries with question intent. The extended grammar is ...
متن کاملQuery by Templates: A Generalized Approach for Visual Query Formulation for Text Dominated Databases
The WWW has a great potential of evolving into a globally distributed digital document library. The primary use of such a library is to retrieve information quickly and easily. Because of the size of these libraries, simple keyword searches often result in too many matches. More complex searches involving boolean expressions are di cult to formulate and understand. This paper describes QBT (Quer...
متن کاملInsight into the neurophysiological processes of melodically intoned language with functional MRI
BACKGROUND Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT) uses the melodic elements of speech to improve language production in severe nonfluent aphasia. A crucial element of MIT is the melodically intoned auditory input: the patient listens to the therapist singing a target utterance. Such input of melodically intoned language facilitates production, whereas auditory input of spoken language does not. MET...
متن کاملEnabled Generalized Vector Space Model to Improve Document Retrieval
This paper presents two approaches to semantic search by incorporating Linked Data annotations of documents into a Generalized Vector Space Model. One model exploits taxonomic relationships among entities in documents and queries, while the other model computes term weights based on semantic relationships within a document. We publish an evaluation dataset with annotated documents and queries a...
متن کاملImproving Query by Tapping via Tempo Alignment
Query by tapping (QBT) is a content trieval method that can retrieve a song by taking the u er’s tapping or clapping at the note onsets of the intended song in the database for comparison. This paper proposes a new query-by-tapping algorithm that aligns the IOI (i ter-onset interval) vector of the query sequence with songs in the dataset by building an IOI ratio matrix, and then applies a dynam...
