Variation of the mammary glands response of inbred female mice treated with estrogen.

چکیده
It has been widely accepted that inbred strains of mice and other rodents should be used for experimental purposes because such strains are considered to show physiological uniformities with themselves. On the other hand, it has been questioned whether inbred strains of mice are indeed more suitable for experimental purposes. Emmens(1939)found an inbred strain of Strong's CBA mice to be more variable than a randomly bred colony. In 1954, Gruneberg directed attention to evidence that pure lines of mice are much less homogeneous genetically than is generally believed, with reference to the skeletal variation. McLaren and Michie(1954)and Biggers and Claringbold(1954)suggested that inter-strain F1 hybrids were to be preferred to inbr, cd strain of mice for bio-assy. As the first step in an investigation on how genetic factors affect the mamary growth, one of the factors influencing dairy performance, and whether it is possible to control this character by selection, the present study was carried out to investigate the variation of the mammary response of inbred immature mice treated with estrogen and to compare the variabilities of the mammary response of established inbred strains of mice with those of mice bred randomly and inbred for short time.

Background: Antipsychotic drugs are medications used to treat schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Antipsychotic drugs can cause unwanted side effects. Hyperprolactinemia is an important but neglected adverse effect. The aim of the this study was to consider the effects of Chlropromazine -induced hyperprolactinaemia on mammary glands of female rats . Materials and Methods: In this study...

Objectives: In traditional medicine Salvia officinalis (sage) has been used as menstrual cycle regulator. In the present study the effects of sage extract on breast tissue were examined. Materials and Methods: Fourteen female rats were divided into two groups: 1) Distilled water-treated rats (Con) that were gavaged with 1ml distilled water and 2) Saliva officinalis hydroalcoholic extract (SHE)-...

Background & Objective: Epilepsy is one of the common neurological diseases and carbamazepine is an antiepileptic drug that causes oxidative stress, endocrine and the reproductive system long term disorders. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of wheat germ oil, as a rich source of antioxidants on sex hormones and uterine tissue in epileptic mice treated with carbamazepine. Materi...
متن کاملThe influence of estrogen on cancer incidence and adrenal changes in ovariectomized mice on calorie restriction.
The occurrence of mammary carcinoma (1, 2, 3, 4) following ovariectomy in certain strains of mice and the delay of mammary carcinogenesis in such mice by calorie underfeeding seen in preliminary experiments (5) suggested the testing of the ef fects of exogenous estrogen administration, partic ularly in the calorie restricted animal, on cancer production. Studies were therefore made on fullfed a...
متن کاملDifferential Roles of ERα and ERβ in Normal and Neoplastic Development in the Mouse Mammary Gland
The present experiments were performed to determine the roles of estrogen receptors α and β (ERα and ERβ) in normal and neoplastic development in the mouse mammary gland. In wild-type mice, in vivo administration of estradiol (E) + progesterone (P) stimulated mammary ductal growth and alveolar differentiation. Mammary glands from mice in which the ERβ gene has been deleted (βERKO mice) demonstr...
