چکیده

The Object Constraint Language (OCL) is a central component in modeling and transformation languages such as the Unified Modeling Language (UML), the Meta Object Facility (MOF), and Query View Transformation (QVT). OCL is standardized as a strict functional language. In this article, we propose a lazy evaluation strategy for OCL. We argue that a lazy evaluation semantics is beneficial in some modeldriven engineering scenarios for: i) lowering evaluation times on very large models; ii) simplifying expressions on models by using infinite data structures (e.g., infinite models); iii) increasing the reusability of OCL libraries. We implement the approach on the ATL virtual machine EMFTVM.

On the Functional Interpretation of OCL

The Object Constraint Language (OCL) is defined as a sideeffect-free language combining model-oriented and functional features. Its interpreters are mostly focused on model-oriented features, providing a direct representation of features like inheritance and properties navigation. However, in the last few years many other functional features were proposed, e.g. pattern matching, lambda expressi...

Experiences of elementary male students from descriptive evaluation

This study conducted with aim of investigation profound experiences of elementary male students in the fourth and fifth grades from the descriptive evaluation. The method of this study was qualitative and phenomenological one. To achieve this objective and considering the nature of the study, purposeful sampling was used. Collected Data were saturated by interviewing with nine students. Data we...

Building an Efficient Component for OCL Evaluation

In this paper we report on our experience developing the Eye OCL Software (EOS) evaluator, a Java component for efficient OCL evaluation. We first motivate the need for an efficient implementation of OCL in order to cope with novel usages of the language. We then discuss some aspects that, based on our experience, should be taken into account when building an OCL evaluator for medium-large scen...

On the Use of Active Operations for Incremental Bidirectional Evaluation of OCL

Many relations between model elements are expressed in OCL. However, tool support to enable synchronization of elements based on OCL-expressed relations is lacking. In this paper, we propose to use active operations in order to achieve incremental execution of some OCL expressions. Moreover, bidirectionality can also be achieved in non-trivial

A Metamodel-Based OCL-Compiler for UML and MOF

After becoming part of the UML standard, OCL has been applied successfully in various domains. As a result, requirements to be met by future versions of OCL have evolved. A key requirement is to provide means for the formal integration of OCL and UML. Therefore, the latest proposal for a revised specification of OCL contains a metamodel defining the language concepts and semantics. Based on thi...
