Arabinogalactan Proteins in Salt‐adapted Suspension Cultures of Dactylis Glomerata L

چکیده
Arabinogalactan-proteins (AGPs) are widely distributed in higher plants and play multiple roles in various processes associated with plant growth and development, including cell expansion, cell proliferation and embryogenesis. Soluble extracellular AGPs are also abundant in the growth medium of suspension. Levels of cell wall bound and extracellular AGPs were measured spectrophotometrically using Yariv reagent and were compared between salt-adapted and control (unadapted) embryogenic suspension cultures of Dactylis glomerata L. While mild salt stress enhanced somatic embryogenesis, higher salt concentrations affected negatively the regeneration capacity. No significant quantitative differences of AGPs in the cell wall bound fractions were found while AGPs in the growth medium showed a dramatic increase in cultures, treated with high salt concentrations. Most of the Yariv reagent precipitated a fraction consisting of high molecular weight proteins. Isolated and partially fractioned extracellular AGPs from salt-adapted and control cultures showed а great difference in the electrophoretic patterns.

Changes in protein thiols in response to salt stress in embryogenic suspension cultures of Dactylis glomerata L.
The aim of the present study is to assess the rate of protein disulphide formation and the activity of NADPH-dependent thioredoxin and glutaredoxin systems, responsible for the reverse reduction of protein and mixed protein-glutathione disulphides, in embryogenic suspension cultures of Dactylis glomerata, subjected to salt stress. Two concentrations of NaCl previously established as enhancing (...

Embryogenic and non-embryogenic suspension cultures of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) secreted into the culture medium a set of proteins, among which low molecular mass (11/12 kDa) proteins were found. However, only the 11/12 kDa proteins from the embryogenic suspension cultures reacted specifically with an antiserum raised against the carrot EP2 non-specific lipid transfer protein (nsLTP...

Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are a highly diverse family of glycoproteins that are commonly found in most plant species. However, little is known about the physiological and molecular mechanisms of their function. AGPs are involved in different biological processes such as cell differentiation, cell expansion, tissue development and somatic embryogenesis. AGPs are also involved in abiotic st...

Cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata L.) is an important cool season grass species in the moderate climate of Iran. In order to evaluate the yield and quality traits, an experiment was conducted in irrigation conditions using 36 accessions of Dactylis glomerata using a randomized complete block design with three replications in Islamabad, Kermanshah province, Iran in 2010. Characters such as forage dr...
