چکیده

of this setup is analysed as a function of the flux. We find that, for the highest flux considered (10×1018 ion decays per year per baseline), the sensitivity to θ13 reaches sin2 2θ13 ≥ 1×10−4; the sign of the atmospheric mass difference can be identified, regardless of the true hierarchy, for sin2 2θ13 ≥ 3× 10−4; and, CP violation can be discovered in 70% of the δ -parameter space for sin2 2θ13 ≥ 10−3, having some sensitivity to CP violation down to sin2 2θ13 ≥ 2× 10−4 for |δ | ∼ 90◦.

Minimal Neutrino Beta Beam for Large θ 13

We discuss the minimum requirements for a neutrino beta beam if θ13 is discovered by an upcoming reactor experiment, such as Double Chooz or Daya Bay. We require that both neutrino mass hierarchy and leptonic CP violation can be measured to competitive precisions with a single-baseline experiment in the entire remaining θ13 range. We find that for very high isotope production rates, such as the...

A minimal Beta Beam with high-Q ions to address CP violation in the leptonic sector

In this paper we consider a Beta Beam setup that tries to leverage at most existing European facilities: i.e. a setup that takes advantage of facilities at CERN to boost high-Q ions (Li and B) aiming at a far detector located at L = 732 Km in the Gran Sasso Underground Laboratory. The average neutrino energy for Li and B ions boosted at γ ∼ 100 is in the range Eν ∈ [1, 2] GeV, high enough to us...

Exceptional Sensitivity to Neutrino Parameters with a Two-Baseline Beta-Beam Set-up

We examine the reach of a Beta-beam experiment with two detectors at carefully chosen baselines for exploring neutrino mass parameters. Locating the source at CERN, the two detectors and baselines are: (a) a 50 kton iron calorimeter (ICAL) at a baseline of around 7150 km which is roughly the magic baseline, e.g., ICAL@INO, and (b) a 50 kton Totally Active Scintillator Detector at a distance of ...

Neutrino mass hierarchy and θ13 with a magic baseline beta-beam experiment

We underscore the physics advantage of an experiment where neutrinos produced in a betabeam facility at CERN are observed in a large magnetized iron calorimeter (ICAL) at the Indiabased Neutrino Observatory (INO). The CERN-INO distance is close to the so-called “magic” baseline which helps evade some of the parameter degeneracies and allows for a better measurement of the neutrino mass hierarch...

A NEW MEASUREMENT OF THE Li(d,p)Li CROSS SECTION AND CONSEQUENCES FOR Be(p,γ)B

A novel scheme for measuring the cross section of the 7Be(p,γ)8B reaction, the major source of high energy neutrinos from the sun, is presented. The scheme involves a strictly uniform particle beam and overcomes some of the recognized experimental uncertainties of previous measurements. A new measurement of σ[7Li(d,p)8Li] has been carried out using this setup, and the present value of σ[7Li(d,p...
