چکیده

GMPLS is a Network Control Plane (NCP) architecture that implements the concept of Grid Network Services (GNS). In the Phosphorus framework, GNS allows the provisioning of network and Grid resources in a single-step through a set of seamlessly integrated procedures. The implementation of GNS poses a number of requirements on the Control Planes of the underlying network infrastructure. This article describes the GNS requirements such as Grid resource discovery, service resiliency, Authorization Authentication Accounting (AAA), and advance reservation services, which are the main trigger factors of the GMPLS control plane architectures (Overlay and Integrated), services procedures and the Gridenabled network interfaces provided by IST Phosphorus project.

Architectural approaches for the integration of the service plane and control plane in optical networks

This paper presents some instantiations of novel application-aware network architectures for emerging IT services and future Internet applications. It proposes and analyses network architectures where the Control and Service Planes are closely and seamlessly interacting with the applications. In one instantiation, the Grid-GMPLS (GMPLS, as defined by the PHOSPHORUS project) is presented, which ...

GMPLS control plane extensions in support of flex-grid enabled elastic optical networks

We develop a GMPLS control plane handling flex-grid enabled Elastic Optical Networks. The implementation is realized in OPNET Modeler event driven simulation tool with focus on developing and implementing extensions for the GMPLS protocol suite. RSVP-TE extensions address the reservation of generalized labels format and enable enhancements for the wavelength selection procedures. OSPF-TE enable...

RSVP-TE Signaling Extension for LSP Handover from the Management Plane to the Control Plane in a GMPLS-Enabled Transport Network

In a transport network scenario, Data Plane connections controlled by either a Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) Control Plane (Soft Permanent Connections SPC) or a Management System (Permanent Connections PC) may independently coexist. The ability of transforming an existing PC into an SPC and vice versa -without actually affecting Data Plane traffic being carried over it -is a...

Multilayer Quality and Grade of Service Support for High Speed GMPLS IP/DWDM Networks

IP over optical networks controlled by the GMPLS control plane have become the common infrastructure for a variety of services, such as triple play and grid applications. The traffic aggregation requires the services to be differentiated in a multilayer fashion, so as to guarantee higher levels of GoS and QoS to ‘gold’ traffic. This means that the traditional DiffServ technology needs to be com...
