Analysis of Two-level Structural Equation Models via Em Type Algorithms

چکیده
In this paper, the maximum likelihood estimation of a general two-level structural equation model with an unbalanced design is formulated as a missing data problem by treating the latent random vectors at the group level as hypothetical missing data. The commonly used EM algorithm is utilized to obtain the solution. Expressions for the E-step are derived and it is shown that the complex optimization of the M -step can be completed conveniently with existing software. Some accelerated procedures such as the EM gradient algorithm and the QuasiNewton EM algorithm are modified to improve the convergence rate of the basic EM algorithm. Results from simulation studies and analysis of examples illustrate the features and potential of the EM approach.

AbstractObjectives: This project assessed the validity of integrative hierarchical model of anxiety and dep-ression by Brown, Chorpita, and Barlow. Through this appraisal, structural relationships were assess- ed between key features of anxiety and depressive disorders and the dimensions of tripartite model of anxiety and depression.Method: In this project, using the findings collected from 25...
متن کاملRelationship between Treatment Outcomes and Depression and Anxiety in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Considering the Mediating Role of Physical Activity: A Structural Equation Modeling
Background and purpose: Depression and anxiety affect the outcomes of diabetes treatment, but, it is not yet completely understood how this happens. We used a structural model to assess the relationship between depression and anxiety considering the mediating role of physical activity on treatment adherence and diabetes control. Materials and methods: The present study was conducted using the...
متن کاملA nonlinear mixed effects model of plant growth and estimation via stochastic variants of the EM algorithm
There is a strong genetic variability among plants, even of the same variety, which, combined with the locally varying environmental conditions in a given field, can lead to the development of highly different neighboring plants. This is one of the reasons why population-based methods for modeling plant growth are of great interest. GreenLab is a functional structural plant growth model which h...
متن کاملEstimation of Source Location Using Curvature Analysis
A quadratic surface can be fitted to potential-field data within 3×3 windows, which allow us to calculate curvature attributes from its coefficients. Phillips (2007) derived an equation depending on the most negative curvature to obtain the depth and structural index of isolated sources from peak values of special functions. They divided the special functions into two categories: Model-specific...
