When an Infinitely-renormalizable Endomorphism of the Interval Can Be Smoothed(~)

چکیده
Let K be a closed subset of a smooth manifold M, and let f : K ! K be a continuous self-map of K. We say that f is smoothable if it is conjugate to the restriction of a smooth map by a homeomorphism of the ambient space M. We give a necessary condition for the smoothability of the faithfully innnitely interval-renormalizable homeomorphisms of Cantor sets in the unit interval. This class contains, in particular, all minimal homeomorphisms of Cantor sets in the line which extend to continuous maps of an interval with zero topological entropy.

Physical Measures for Infinitely Renormalizable Lorenz Maps
A physical measure on the attractor of a system describes the statistical behavior of typical orbits. An example occurs in unimodal dynamics. Namely, all infinitely renormalizable unimodal maps have a physical measure. For Lorenz dynamics, even in the simple case of infinitely renormalizable systems, the existence of physical measures is more delicate. In this article we construct examples of i...
متن کاملA VARIATIONAL APPROACH TO THE EXISTENCE OF INFINITELY MANY SOLUTIONS FOR DIFFERENCE EQUATIONS
The existence of infinitely many solutions for an anisotropic discrete non-linear problem with variable exponent according to p(k)–Laplacian operator with Dirichlet boundary value condition, under appropriate behaviors of the non-linear term, is investigated. The technical approach is based on a local minimum theorem for differentiable functionals due to Ricceri. We point out a theorem as a spe...
متن کاملOn the Quasisymmetrical Classification of Infinitely Renormalizable Maps I. Maps with Feigenbaum's Topology
We begin by considering the set of infinitely renormalizable unimodal maps on the interval [−1, 1]. A function f defined on [−1, 1] is said to be unimodal if it is continuous, increasing on [−1, 0], decreasing on [0, 1] and symmetric about 0, and if it fixes −1 and maps 1 to −1 . Moreover, it is said to be renormalizable if there is an integer n > 1 and a subinterval I 6= [−1, 1] containing 0 s...
متن کاملTopological Obstructions to Smoothness for Infinitely Renormalizable Maps of the Disk
We analyze the signature type of a cascade of periodic orbits associated to period doubling renormalizable maps of the two dimensional disk. The signature is a sequence of rational numbers which describes how periodic orbits turn each other and is invariant by topological conjugacies that preserve orientation. We prove that in the class of area contracting maps the signature cannot be a monoton...
متن کاملTopology of the regular part for infinitely renormalizable quadratic polynomials
In this paper we describe the well studied process of renormalization of quadratic polynomials from the point of view of their natural extensions. In particular, we describe the topology of the inverse limit of infinitely renormalizable quadratic polynomials and prove that when they satisfy a-priori bounds, the topology is rigid modulo its combinatorics.
