چکیده
The ƒÁ-Seminoprotein (ƒÁ-Sm) and the Prostatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP) have recently been studied as useful tumor markers for prostatic cancer. Both PAP and ƒÁ-Sm in patients with prostatic cancer have been assayed and the data relevant to the usefulness of ƒÁ-Sm as well as PAP have been analyzed. The results obtained are as follows. A total of 89 cases with prostatic cancer, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH), prostatitis and other urological diseases were the subjects of this study. The number of samples tested was 233 for ƒÁ-Sm and 229 for PAP. The patients with prostatic cancer who were definitely diagnosed histopathologically and whose disease stages were classified were used primarily, and blood samples were collected from these patients. PAP was assayed by the RI method, and ƒÁ-Sm by the EIA method. According to previous clinical reports, the cut off value for ƒÁ-Sm was set at 4.0ng/ml. The level of ƒÁ-Sm observed was 3.9ng/ml in patients with BPH, 1.9ng/ml in those with prostatitis, 1.ing/ml in cases with other cancers of the urinary organs, 11.0ng/ml in patients with untreated

Evaluation of Neuroendocrine and Proliferative Markers in Prostatic Adenocarcinomas
Background: Certain marker studies have practical importance in the biology of prostate cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the quantification of certain neuroendocrine and proliferative markers obtained during transurethral resection or prostatectomy, would help in the prognostic evaluation of prostatic adenocarcinomas. Methods: The present study was performed on samples...
متن کامل[Clinical evaluation of serum basic fetoprotein for prostatic cancer--comparative study with PAP, gamma-Sm and PSA].
The clinical significance of serum basic fetoprotein (BFP) in prostatic cancer was investigated together with serum prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP), gamma-seminoprotein (gamma-Sm) and prostate specific antigen (PA). Investigated in this study were 40 patients with prostatic cancer, ranging in age from 50 to 85 years (mean age: 69.5 years). According to clinical staging, 3 cases (7.5%) had a st...
متن کاملClinical and Pathological Features of Iraqi Patients with Prostate Cancer
Background: The clinical pathological features were detected by measuring the prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) activity according to the stages and grades of prostate cancer. We also explored the relationship between the disease and age with family history among the patients. Methods: Data were collected from direct interview and from the patient’s records. Blood samples that collected before ...
متن کاملEvaluation of c-Myc mRNA Expression Level in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and Prostatic Adenocarcinoma Tissues and Its Correlation with Clinicopathological Characteristics
Background and Aims: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common cancers among men in Iran. Since changes in the regulation of proto-oncogenes expression are the main causes of most human cancers, including PCa, evaluating the expression of marker genes can be helpful for early diagnosis of cancer and better understanding of its etiology. The present study compared c-Myc expression level in...
متن کاملComparative Analysis of CD4+ and CD8+ T Cells in Tumor Tissues, Lymph Nodes and the Peripheral Blood from Patients with Breast Cancer
Background: CD4+ and CD8+ T cells are the main types of lymphocytes in cell-mediated immunity and play a central role in the induction of efficient immune responses against tumors. The frequencies of T cell subtypes in the peripheral blood and tumor tissues, and draining lymph nodes (dLN) can be considered as useful markers for evaluation of the immune system in cancers. Methods: In this study,...
