چکیده
A description is given of settling chambers with sprays, cyclone types and electrostatic precipitators as used in municipal incinerators. Special emphasis is placed on selection and duct design especially to inlets of collectors which affects efficiency. Importance is stressed on preventing leaks and overfilling of hoppers and proper maintenance of equipment in order to obtain optimum efficiency. Control of air pollution is best ac complished by thorough hurning in comhustion chamber and thus decrease load to flyash control equipment.

Childhood cancers, birthplaces, incinerators and landfill sites.
BACKGROUND In all, 70 municipal incinerators, 307 hospital incinerators and 460 toxic-waste landfill sites in Great Britain were examined for evidence of effluents causing childhood cancers. Municipal incinerators had previously shown significant excesses of adult cancers within 7.5 and 3.0 km. The relative risks for adults had been marginal and an analysis of childhood cancers seemed to offer ...
متن کاملHealth risk assessment of municipal solid waste incineration
The incineration of municipal solid waste leads to the environmental release of some toxic substances, albeit of low atmospheric concentration in the proximity of the most recently built incinerators thanks to the substantial advancements in air pollution control equipment. An excess risk of some adverse health outcomes (cancer, birth defects, and respiratory diseases in particular) has been li...
متن کاملCombustion and Heat Calculations for Incinerators
The design of industrial and municipal incinerators is based on combustion and heat considerationsl The procedures are given for calculating the quantities of air, flue gas, water and heat, as well as the gas temper atures. To assist the reader, a municipal incinerator is used as an example. The relation between refuse analysis and flue gas analysis is explained. Sections on dry and wet dust c...
متن کاملDioxin concentrations in the blood of workers at municipal waste incinerators.
OBJECTIVES Increased concentrations of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzo-furans (PCDFs) in pooled blood samples from workers at municipal waste incinerators have been reported. This study was undertaken to confirm these results in individual blood samples from potentially exposed and unexposed workers at municipal waste incinerators compared with matched unex...
متن کاملMass balance for POPs in hazardous and municipal solid waste incinerators.
The amount of different persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the input of waste incinerators was compared to that in the output. Three cases were considered: a rotary kiln incinerating hazardous waste, a grate furnace incinerating municipal solid waste (MSW) and the same grate furnace co-incinerating plastics of waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and automotive shredder resi...
