Cervical type AB thymoma (Mixed) tumour diagnosis in a mynah as a model to study human: clinicohistological, immunohistochemical and cytohistopathological study

چکیده
UNLABELLED Thymoma is a primary mediastinal neoplasm arising from or exhibiting differentiation towards thymic epithelial cells, typically with the presence of non-neoplastic lymphocytes. A 13-year-old male Mynah bird (acridotheres tristis) was presented for evaluation of a 2.3 × 1.5 × 1.0 cm mass in the left ventrolateral cervical region. The clinical signs, radiology, cytohistopathology and immunohistochimy findings related to the thymoma are presented. These findings indicated that the tumor was a type AB thymoma according to the World Health Organization (WHO) and veterinary classification. Thymomas are rarely reported in avian species and this is the first report in a Mynah bird. متن کاملPosterolateral thoracotomy Approach for an Ectopic Mediastinum Thymoma: A Case Report
Thymic epithelial neoplasms are commonly aetiology of the anterior mediastinum masses in adults. It represents 20–30% of all mediastinal tumours in adults. Ectopic thymomas usually affect the neck, mediastinal compartments, lung, and pleura, arising from aberrant thymic tissue. For giant thymoma, there is still no consensus on the surgical approach. We herein report a patient with a giant thym...
متن کاملAn unusual cervical thymoma.
A 48-year old woman was admitted because of cervical mass. The computed tomography of the chest showed a lobulated mass (Fig. 1a and b). The tumour was removed with a cervical mediastinal approach. On microscopic examination, the tumour consisted of an epithelial-cell-rich thymoma (Fig. 2). The patient's postoperative course was uneventful at the 2-year follow-up. Figure 1: Lobulated, heterogen...
متن کاملCorrelations between histological type, clinical behaviour, and prognosis in thymoma.
Seventy four cases of thymoma were reclassified into three histological categories--cortical (30), medullary (9), and mixed (34) (the remaining patient had an intrathymic thymoma)--for an investigation of the relation between histological type, clinical behaviour, and long term prognosis. There were significant differences between the histological types in the frequency of myasthenia gravis and...
متن کاملEctopic pleural thymoma mimicking a giant solitary fibrous tumour of the pleura.
Thymoma is the commonest tumour of the anterior mediastinum in adults. Ectopic thymoma sometimes occurs, usually affecting the neck, mediastinal compartments, the lung and, very rarely, the pleura. We describe the case of a giant right-sided pleural thymoma (14 13 8 cm), preoperatively suspected to be a solitary fibrous tumour; a complete surgical resection was achieved and a postoperative diag...
