Minimally Invasive Surgical Technique in Periodontal Therapy

چکیده
sites.1 But the traditionally practiced periodontal surgical techniques were designed for the treatment of generalized disease,2 which involves relatively long incision and extension into non-periodontally involved areas. These extensive tissue reflections could result in attachment loss3 and can lead to morbidities like thermal sensitivity, food impaction, and compromised esthetics.4 In recent years, novel periodontal surgical approaches were developed to diminish these negative outcomes by modifying flap design and handling and addressing only the periodontally involved sites. This has allowed a drastic reduction in the inter-dental wound failure when compared to conventional flap approach.5 Thus, it stands to reason out that a reduced access surgical site or minimally invasive approach would result in less morbidity for the patient.6 This review summarizes the available minimally invasive surgical approaches for the management of periodontal disease.

Minimally Invasive Surgical Approach to Distal Fibula Fractures: A Technique Tip
Wound complications following ankle fracture surgery are a major concern. Through the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques some of these complications can be mitigated. Recent investigations have reported on percutaneous fixation of distal fibula fractures demonstrating similar radiographic and functional outcomes to traditional open approaches. The purpose of this manuscript is to ...
متن کاملPrime Incision and Modified Moving Window: A Minimally Invasive Access for Breast Cancer Surgical Treatment
BACKGROUND Conservative surgical treatment has been the treatment of choice for early breast cancer. It allows feasible oncological treatment with a satisfactory cosmetic approach and fast recovery. However, in some cases mastectomy is necessary. This study proposes a surgical approach with only one surgical access through the same incision, which is in line with precepts mentioned abov...
متن کاملClinical Results of Percutaneous Fixation of Pelvic and Acetabular Fractures: A Minimally Invasive Internal Fixation Technique
Background: The pelvic ring fractures (PRF) and acetabular fractures (AF) are among the major orthopedic injuriesassociated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. Open surgical stabilization is the standard treatment for themajority of these complications. Percutaneous minimally invasive surgical stabilization of the fractures has become anaccepted treatment method for th...

A review of the current scientific literature was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy of minimally invasive periodontal regenerative surgery in the treatment of periodontal defects. The impact on clinical outcomes, surgical chair-time, side effects and patient morbidity were evaluated. An electronic search of PUBMED database from January 1987 to December 2011 was undertaken on dental journals u...
متن کاملRole of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery in Adults with Degenerative Lumbar Scoliosis: A Narrative Review
Background and Aim: Degenerative lumbar scoliosis is a spinal deformity resulting from advanced disc degeneration and facet arthropathy. Given the inconclusive available literature and lack of high-quality data supporting the role of minimally invasive surgical management of degenerative lumbar scoliosis, this review intends to highlight and compare the various viable minimally invasive surgica...
